Why is it that there is so little interest in this thread/subject...?? does no-one give a fcuk that these people are raping the game and have done so for fcuking years...?? what gives...?? To the listed names I would add: 'Arry Rednapp, Peter Reid, Walter Smith, Peter Taylor and George Graham just for STARTERS....they are all in the scam or have been in the past.....and everyone in the game in England knows this.

Transfer probe queries 17 deals (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/6755991.stm)

Seventeen transfers and five Premier League clubs have been named in Lord Stevens' final report into alleged transfer irregularities.

Deals involving Chelsea, Middlesbrough, Bolton, Portsmouth and Newcastle have been highlighted in the report.

But there is no evidence of irregular payments to club officials or players.

Managers Sam Allardyce and Graeme Souness have been mentioned in Lord Stevens' report along with 15 agents, including Pini Zahavi.

About time they had a closer look at Zahavi.

Nothing will happen to him. FIFA have been investigating him for 2 years and turned up nothing.
According to one of the guys on Sky, no-one has made more money from the game than he has.

Do you actually understand what the report says?

"Investigation ongoing, suspicious things noticed but nothing concrete."

I understand there is a huge problem in England invariably involving British managers and not many seem to care.

The report is a storm in a teacup, there is nothing that implicates any of the clubs and so far they have not found any evidence to implicate Middlesbrough, Chelsea or Portsmouth transfers, only Bolton and Newcastle, but even then it was only individuals (Souness, Aladyce) rather than clubs.

People can say all they want, that the whole league is at it, but in reality this report shows that EVERY club cooperated 100% and were happy to prove they had nothing to hide, including those 5 named. The report cleared them of wrong doing and so no one is that arsed, the agents named will be investigated further and then punished accordingly.

Allardyce was only mentioned as a conflict of interest with his son, who was an agent.

maybe this will help. Read the book "Broken Dreams" by Tom Bower published by Simon & Schuster. This book, published in 2003 lays it all out, names names (including some of the ones I mentioned in an earlier post) and includes these quotes....

"Referring to the sale of Rio Ferdinand to Leeds United, Harry Redknapp had recieved 300,000 pounds sterling of the Rio bonanza".....

"Terry Venables, John Gregory,Ron Atkinson and Brian Clough were all accused, in the house of commons, on the 30th of january 1995 by Kate Hoey, Labour M.P. of a variety of allegations, scandals and corrupt practices"...

The book also names Peter Reid, Walter Smith and others as having taken bungs over the years.

I find it interesting (to say the least) that even though the book was published 4 YEARS AGO....none of the accused have sued the author or the publisher for libel.....much like the BBC has heard NOTHING from Allardyce's lawyers since he was named in their televised bungs inquiry.

I could read someones opinions in a book made to make a profit.

OR

I could listen to a legal inquiry that had access to all of the clubs financial records and statements.

tough choice.

Well if a book said it then it must be true.

Maybe because no-one has even heard about this book? (Apart from you of course, darling)

the author hasn't been sued....and its been 4 years.

That really is atrocious reasoning. Because the author hasn't been sued yet, it must be true?

A libel action can be a very costly and time-consuming process, and can draw much more attention to the falsehoods than there would have otherwise been. Unless the material is already widely read and damaging you, a libel action just isn't worth it.

1) Fairly reasonable reasoning IMO

2) Fair enough, this I can understand.

If you guys are "readers" though....and it goes without saying that you care about the game....then I strongly recommend you read this book.

Like i said, i would rather read a fact based inquiry in which every club and the vast majority of agents (bar a certain few named in the report) cooperated and produced bank statements etc, than someones book which is written with the sole purpose of making a profit.
