Many of us will remember Igor from his days as a Nat and with the CSL Blizzard as well as the charges that he took a bribe at the Merlion Cup in Singapore while playing for Canada.
I guess it was all downhill after that. I wonder if he has now bottomed out.

That's sad. I never realized he was so young when i was watching the World Cup then and even years later. He would have been 18 when he scored against Honduras and 19 at the World Cup. Then a year later the scandal breaks out and within another year he's basically banned from Soccer.
Now he's a 40 year old mid-level drug dealer about to do some hard time.

Because I considered it to be very big news. I suppose it depends on if you were born or if you followed Canadian soccer when we went to Mexico in 1986. Vrablic was a big reason for us getting to the World Cup and while he was never going to be any sort of international star, he was a player that was important to Canada and many Canadians.
In otherwords, I thought that this news deserved to be seen, as sad as it is.

Well, I have to admit that I'm stunned at the lack of interest in the fall of Igor considering the huge role he played in getting us to Mexico in 1986.
How soon they forget.
Very well. I'll unstick it.

I was 4 at the time so i can't fully appreciate what he did for the MNT but I'm still shocked. It's too bad, he had a bright future ahead of him.

Me too. I was only 11 at the time, but i liked Igor. We have a tape of the France-Canada match and over the years i've seen it a handful of times. Always a good watch!

I remember him as a gangly player - but somehow found ways to score - sort like Catliff - not pretty to watch but scored goals. Vrablic is still 4th leading scorer for Canada - despite playing only a few years.
hey jpg75, I thought I was only one who still watches France-Canada. But when the disappointments have been much greater than the joys following football in Canada; you've kinda need to look at anything remotely positive.
But after watching Canada play the Guats yesterday, I went to my knees and thanked god for the re-birth of Cdn football.
