My name is Kim, and I selected football as topic of my paper for the graduation of the university. Because of my lack of knowledge concerning soccer, I would like to get ya guys' help.

1. What are the requirements of the League participation for the teams that are newly coming into the Premiership from the 1st Division? Do they have to pay an entry fee to the Premier League Ltd?

2. How was Eriksson chosen by the FA to be head coach of the United States? By the decision of the Board? Council? President? or any particular Committee that selects the National Head Coach?

I have surfed internet quite often, but failed to figure out the above quiries.

Thank you very much for reading my tread and i am looking forward to your valuable reply.

What happened to Bruce? Why hasn't the USSF said anything about this?

So for your final paper you chose a topic you know nothing about? That's pretty cunning.

That is the part about these regular threads that fascinates me the most. Every time, same thing.

If ever I do another academic qualification, I am just going to get the good folks of www.bigmedievalequadoriantapestry.com to write it for me. Beats studying.

I'm tempted to make this thread into a sticky.

Thanks for the link. I was wondering where Wildman and Mr. Cam were hanging out these days.

It was Col. Sanders and he was aided in his decision by the Queen of England, the Pope, The Getty's and the Rothschilds.

Indeed they do pay a fee to join, but it's not that simple. When the League was formed in 1888 each of the 12 competing clubs were required to pay an entry fee of 10 guineas each (a guinea is a pound and a shilling, and was often used for business transactions back then, and is in fact still used today on rare ocasions). This figure has remained since that day and every club joining the top division for the first time must pay this fee. Being started in the day of Gentlemens clubs, a simple handover of cash was considered vulgar and far too informal, so the quaint but outdated custom of "the Exchanging of the Fees" was introduced. So every year representatives of the promoted clubs go to the exclusive Red Windmill Club in the heart of Central London, where they'll sit until approached by one of the league representives will ask them "first time here?"
"Yes" they must reply.
"ten or twenty ?(guineas)" is the next question. (traditionally "10 or 20?" would be a test, but is now clearly ceremonial as everyone knows the answer is ten")
"Ten" will be the answer.
They then pay the money, each in turn, and the league representative will remove the ceremonial robes (yeah, we know it's daft, like judges in wigs and all that, but it's tradition) and each club will be personally welcomed into the fold.

It's hardly surprising that you found little on the internet about it. Football in this country is still very heavily linked to freemasonry, and as such, officials tend to be less than revealing about their methods. That's why club chairman always tend to be captains of industry - the FA don't want the "wrong sort" in their club.

I hope that has been of use.
