I would have to take PSV with Ajax a close second. If those didn't work I'd go to Turkey and link up with Galatasaray. They are always struggling with money and we could sell the partnership as us teaching them sound business when we would actually be there to get cheap deals on their top talent.

PSV would be unbelievable...
Plus, then we could get our hometown boy, Lee Nguyen, back on loan perhaps.
I approve.

and with that, I really see it happening..
I'm callin it this way:
Hicks buys FCD, auto-joint partnership with 'pool.
Despite not liking the scousers, I'd be happy for someone with Euro-experience to be in hoops.

Its is illegal in England to have a vested interest in 2 clubs therefore Hicks and the Glazers etc cannot buy American clubs. However it is very possible that a feeder club approach maybe adopted by Liverpool. PSV are Chelseas feeder club at the minute also so that wouldnt happen. West Ham should be the club MLS should be after they have the best youth system in the country.

Players such as:

Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Joe Cole, Jermain Defoe, Kieran Richardson, Frank Lampard

does that law apply to non-English citizens, and indeed non-residents? does it not just means 2 clubs in England?

No its 2 clubs for anyone. Roman Abramovich was forced to sell his shares in CSKA Moscow

Celtic

The prospect of watching Green Hoops vs Red Hoops is just to awesome to pass up.
I'd to anything to see the candycane match.

And if Hicks buys this team i will shoot him.
He's already ruined my beloved Rangers and now hes trying to ruin soccer as well?

Seems to me like the Rangers were ruined before Hicks bought them.

Have the Rangers EVER been non-ruined?

I would hope for one of the following...

Shakhtar Donets'k (Ukraine)
Hearts of Oak (Ghana)
Shimizu S-Pulse (Japan)

I think that Dallas should get a premier league team but not one of the big boys but maybe a mid table team like Aston Villa,Man City,Everton has talent that could come to the MLS. Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal , Chelsea, Newcastle players would never come so we have to be realistic. A mid table team that will most likely not be demoted ever will be a sound partnership.

Shimizu S-Pulse (Japan)

I don't know how well it would go down partnering with a team who is primarily orange

Jesus, parrot.....second division Vegalta? :p
They are the same team as Dallas in many ways, strong offense until summer and then they historically fade.

If they did partner with a club in Japan, I'd like to see them get with a team with strong youth programs like Sanfrecce, Oita, Gamba,or Kashiwa

There is also a natural similarity between FC Tokyo and the old Burn (logo wise)

I would prefer to align with a reasonably-sized team from one of the big SA cities like Buenos Aires or Bogota.

1)It seems to me that the bigger the city, the more talent there is lying around hungry for a chance. Teams that perhaps might have one too many talents in a position might want to sell or loan him out for a year to make sure he gets some games in. This appears to be how we got Ricardinho and Toja but if I'm wrong about that detail, the idea is still sound.

2)I'd rather align with teams from countries that value ball skill in tight spaces. Then we can cherry pick the physical specimens from that group of possessors. The US needs no help supplying bungling athletic types. It's the sublime touch, instant innovation and just overall "game" that we're struggling to produce.

Curitiba is a good sized city. Argentina is the only other country that I would mess with but I don't know if the Brasilians would see that as a slight. If we are loyal to Paranaense that may produce better results. It seems like having Oscar and Dario is similar to having a SA city or two more under our belt.

i think DIM in colombia would make a lot of sense, especially with the pareja connection
i know theres a young mid from that club thats been in light contact with pareja and they seem like a good partner
