Hey guys. 2 months ago or so I made a thread introducing this wonderful online soccer manager game to my fellow TFC fans. To my surprise 66 of you signed up.
Some of us made an attempt to joing a TFC Friendly league, but it's not as active as it could be, and the forums there suck.
So! This thread is for helping out the new guys with the game, setting up friendlies, and telling others what's new and exciting with your club.
Before someone rants about this not being TFC related, the Houston Dynamo have their own TM thread and it is 19 pages long with good info and help on it. Why can't we do it too?
I'm FC Brampton (http://trophymanager.com/klubhus.php?showclub=72889)

Taoism: with 6 games down and both of us at 14 points (4W-2D-0L), we've got quite a tight race for 1st & 2nd spots :p best of luck to you my friend, this is going to be a good season.
ps. our last match up (http://trophymanager.com/kamp.php?kampid=2514067&show=report) should have been yours haha, that last goal on the 90th minute, oh man, I definitely did not expact that.

Thank you mods for making this a sticky!
As for my team, I don't know what to say...
I'm very incosistant. I'll beat a good team, like Oxygen who was undefeated..I know its a friendly but we used our regular lineups, then I lose to these bot teams.... =/
My team will be killer in 1 or 2 seasons, I have 30 or so 18 year olds I bought for cheap, most great potential, some with crap (will fire those). 5 of those have to be of excellent potential. So i'm looking good in the future. As of now..I really can't say much besides the fact I have no good FC's...Wish I had a star FC like somepeople...would make me win more games instead of losing 1-0.

Lol, yeah, and I was given him from the start last season (when I signed up). When signing up I'm pretty sure it said when being confirmed by the admin it helps to have your nameunique, yet similar to real teams, so I chose 1. FC (like German teams 1. FC Koeln, 1. FC Nuremberg, etc.) but then I also put "Deutscher" which is German for "German" (kinda like Alemannia Aachen or Bayern Munich) then my hometown, Goderich.
and voila 1. FC Deutscher Goderich

Yeah brotha, you've got quite an enviously huge youth army. Once some of those boys peak, you'll have an amazing depth of skill available to you

What's he gonna do with them all though? you're only allowed to have 5 foreigners on your game-day roster (except in friendlies)

Choose the best 5 that fit my lineup...
And sell the rest for mad cash.
It's a decent strategy, you just have to know how to spot the gems and read a lot of the 0 replies threads for players with high TI. Also use your scouts to scout players that are on the first day in the transfer market so that when you get your report back, they'll still be for sale and you can decide if you want to purchase.
The funny thing is, most of my youth were bought for 10,000 - 300,000 a piece.... I spent maybe 15million on 30 players or so.
I wasn't blessed with a worldclass striker like you, My FC's suck, that made me plan for the future quickly to avoid this again.

I don't suck so bad afterall....
I changed my formation and played an attacking style that the opponent struggled with containing in his last 5 games (God bless TM PRO) and won 4-0, good for 2nd in Div3.4!
=)
I went from 8th to 2nd, pretty happy!

Yep, I was assigned to the USA league, but I definitely up for a friendly anytime.
As far as addiction goes, I'll need a good introduction to the game first. Any helpful hints from anyone? Is there a help page on the site?

Dont rush out and drop big money on players yet.
Research the skill set and read the manual twice!
Hire 4 coaches for your 4 training regimes, each that are good in their field, example: Mid, Att, Def, Phy
Expand your Training ground ASAP and also your Youth Acadamy (if you want to draft good youths). It's expensive, but worth it.
Do the FITA license, you'll get 11 million for completing it. It takes half hour for a novice player to do.
Upgrade your pitch covers and sprinklers, they are cheap and prevent injury.
Don't waste money on Med center or VIP as they don't work like they should yet and are very expensive.
Memorize the cyclus:
Mon - Cup Matches (you prob dont have any yet, set up friendlies for your "off days"
Tues- Training - All the players you have on your team will train, some better then others due to potential and age
Wed- League Match (make sure your line up and everything is crip before 5:55 Eastern time! Its when North American matches are played!)
Thurs - You get sponsorship money (7-9 million, depending on your popularity and fans and Division), you'll also get attendance money and money you made from jersey sales and what not
Friday - League Match!
Saturday- Youth Pull (go to Squad > Youth Development > and
get your youth report, read up on the player, draft anything over a rating of 5*.
Sunday - League Match!
I'll try to add more advice, i'm fairly new myself, but I will admit I spend atleast 2 hours at work a day farting around on TM and reading, I know! I'm a slacker!)
