View Full Version : Where Was the Foggy Bottom?

I roamed the confines of RFK Stadium searching in vain for the Foggy Bottom cart. Where was it? Is Bud Lite now an official sponser, and has FB been exiled? You have to understand my state of mind. I was not expecting a favorable outcome from the match, but I consoled myself by thinking that at least I would enjoy the beer. When I was confronted by nothing better than typical American fiz I thought the evening would be pure hell. As it was, United's exciting performance so enthralled me that I made do with a Diet Pepsi, and was satisfied. But, a note to Steve Zach: BRING BACK THE FOGGY BOTTOM!!!

I missed yesterday's match, so I didn't know the Foggy Bottom was gone. Please, for the love of God, tell me you're joking?
Goldwater...dead.
Zack....dead.
Someone will pay for this.

Maybe we should rename this the complaint thread. Here's mine.
First, the incredibly SLOW service at the concession stands. In the first half, it took my wife 15 minutes to get a beer when she was the 3rd person in line (and the people in front of her didn't order anything exotic). At halftime, I went. The reason service is so slow is that the servers don't know the prices!! And they can't add, either!! Two beers is $10. You should not have to look at the menu to see the price, and then use a calculator to add 5 + 5!! Jeez Louise, what a bunch of retards. (Sorry if I'm offending any retards who might be trolling these boards.) Oh, yeah, someone might want to tell these guys that there is a soccer match on, and people want to watch it!
Second, the tee shirts being sling shot into the stands. This is fine, but do it during HALFTIME, NOT DURING THE GAME! It's pretty impossible to watch the game (much less enjoy it) when your section is overrun with 100 stampeding, squealing children. What the f*** is this, minor league baseball? There's actually a good soccer match being played, let us enjoy it.

The Foggy stand behind section 205/204 on the main concourse level was open as usual - although I now quaff the Red Hook in preference to Foggy! Can't speak for the stand behind 312 as that's just too far to walk :)

I sat in 204 and didn't see the stand, though I looked hard for it. I did see lemonade, though.

The beer was there in the usual location. I had many fine RedHooks.

A couple of games ago wasn't beer $6.50 from vendors. Last night it was back to a barely reasonable $5.25. What's the deal?

my friend you are thinking of the occassional "import" which is usually a can of corona which is to my mind, is equally watery crap that matches the filth retched from anneshauer busch (however the hell you spell their name)

Foggy Bottom was where it always is, just a bit to the right of the Main Gate (if coming in from the main gate), a bit closer to 209 than 205. The only problem was they claimed to have run out well before the 65 minute mark. I'm sorry, but with 10,000 people there (regardless of what the announced attendance was) there is no way they should run out.,

Nah, I sit in section 306. I go out the entrance between 305 and 306 on that level (so at the top of 205/206) and it's right in front of me. Maybe there's another one further round the concourse on that level, but I've never seen it.
Ah, you said the Main Gate. That's one level up - the stand there is behind section 312 or 313. I use that one in dire emergencies.
There are 2 stands - check em both out and share the wealth ;)

Some truths:
The Foggy was where it always is for me, the above mentioned area to the right of the main gate.
The service sux. Seriously. I was after getting one of the new nifty Italian sausage w/ onions and all and the guy in front of me orders a burger. The concessions guy plops the burger on the grill, as it takes a few minutes to heat, and just stands there. In that time he could've filled my order and the order of the guy behind me (who I think just got a soda) but he's not quick witted enough to do that. They must pay those folks for ************ cause there sure as hell ain't about speed or efficiency.

in my opinion the service in the entire DC area sucks. it is the place customer service goes to die. whenever i travel on business to other areas i get friendly, efficient service by competent employees--something that is incredibly rare in this area. it is really evident when you travel.
on of course working for the
DC stadium commission would sap the will and skill of even the most competent, willing employee...

All I have to say is that the jokers who order the Foggy Bottom had better be prepared for the Blackburn game and the AC Milan/Juv game. They ran out mid-way through half time of the Spurs game.

Mods: Can we start a separate thread for the T-shirt toss? It's my biggest gripe as well, now that Chino's making some forward passes. Total bush league to do that crap while the game is on, and lately, it's been going into the 52nd/53rd minute.
Also, the new PA announcer Saturday was WAY behind all night. He started to announce the Buddle sub during the run of play, well after the substitution, and was yammering over the loudspeaker when we scored the 2nd goal. He also made "Happy Birthday" and "Family of the Week" announcments during play. Reminded me of all of those "...the official furniture store of the RICHMOND KICKERS" announcements during the DCU-Richmond game. It was kind of sad that he didn't announce Hristo's sub-out until after Stoich was off the field.
I know--we win 3-0 and it's still bitch, bitch, bitch. But how hard would it be to start an RFK boycott of the milk industry, since they sponsor the t-shirts? Maybe switch over from milk to, say, beer.

Ok, while we're all complaining, I've got a gripe, too:
Can they stop showing that 'Shaolin Soccer' preview on the telescreen after each time DC scores a goal? I'd much rather see a replay of the actual goal right after they score, rather than having to wait until they're back in the run of play to see it.
They can still show the preview before the game and at halftime all they want, but NOT during the game!
