Thought I'd start this here for the fans of the US team who are watching what's going on between Mexico and Honduras.
So far, Guevara's missed a PK, Oswaldo's whined about getting his leg stepped on, and Mexico's botched a gift from the Honduras keeper. And Honduras is freakin' fast.
I didn't see the game between Honduras and Panama, but I'm guessing Panama is this year's Costa Rica - that small nation that's very good for about 4-6 years. They have to be decent to beat the Honduras team I'm watching.

Leave to our friends Honduras to botch a penalty. The Honduras fans are lovin this summer international season, given they have a minimal chance of qualifying for the WC. Hopefully they can earn at least a point today.
Question: Does Mexico hold this tournament in a much higher regard than we do?

Seriously, this Honduras team is as dangerous on the counter as the 2002 version that gave us fits. That team should have played in the World Cup.
As I write that, an absolute Honduran brainfart results in a Mexico PK. Ugh, that was stupidissimo.

I've watched most of this orocopa and so far the teams that
has most impressed me have been Cuba & Guadeloupe.
Stupid PK just conceded by the Catrachos.
And I still hate Blanco.

Sh.it penalty to Mexico...........1-0 Blanco
round the 30th min.
Would be interesting to see how many of the spectators reside in the US or their home country.

Is it just me or are the Honduran uniform numbers impossible to discern?

All of their uniform numbers are expressed as irrational numbers.

The numbers look like black masking tape.
Do any of the Honduran players play in MLS?

I'm just shocked to see the absence of a 50 yard line. Mexico gets grass and RBNY can't?

Thanks for the thread.
Honduras has played well so far against a team that traditionally is superior. They choose to attack instead of hack and bunker like the lesser teams did against the US.
Makes for a more exciting game, too bad they missed the penalty.

I still think the lack of athleticism and creativity is going to be Mexico's downfall this cycle. They have a couple of great athletes in Guardado and Salcido. Aside from them, they are small and/or slow. And Chicagomec Blanco is their one true creative force. The creative difference maker for Mexico in the 2006 cycle was Zinha. I don't see an adequate replacement for him in this version of the team.
I think the US takes guys like Donovan, Beasley, and Mapp for granted. Watch Mexico, with all their technical skill, and you realize how important speed is.
If I were a fan of Mexico, which I am when they're playing outside our region, I'd be hoping for Vela and Dos Santos to play themselves into this team ASAP.

I was thinking of going, but $30 for lousy seats to watch one team I'll root for occasionally and one team I don't care about at all seemed a little steep.
Seriously. $30 a piece for section 336 (upper deck, corner). Maybe next lifetime.

The Mexico U20 team is going to be a lot of fun to watch.

Mexico doesn't deserve to be winning this game.

So close - Honduras header barely blocked by Sanchez and the bar.

Chicagomec Blanco direct red! Looks like he punched Caballero in the nuts.
EDIT: Replay shows it was a blatant cheap elbow to the gut. He's Mexico's Mathis.

Every bogus call levied on the Nats in the first 2 matches has
just been karmically atoned.
