...an Olympic sport that was the basis of training soccer players in Europe and had near 100% capacity at it's world championships barely see the light of day in the US?
When it's Team Handball.
I think it's time that maybe the people who worked to bring the biggest outdoor sport in Europe to the US will decide to bring the biggest INDOOR sport in Europe to the US.
If people want to find out more, visit the International Handball Federation at: www.ihf.info
Team Handball deserves to recognized in the US and the more people know about it, the better off the US sports scene will be.

Cricket's also popular in parts of the world. Bring it to the US over my dead body.
I played a little team handball in college intramurals back in the day. It's easy to play if you play basketball and baseball. The rules are a little weird, though.
Why isn't it popular? It's faaaaaaaaaaaar more easier to get a pickup basketball game together than one for team handball.
Also, the ghetto version of handball is far more fun, IMO.

Handball is played in Japan as well Europe. I have a friend, (my age, 18) plays in Japan. I don't talk to him very much any more, but from last time we talked, he was on like the regional team and it was pretty intense.

I don't particularly care for the sport, but I don't hate it either. I won't begrudge people who are fans. What the hell, knock yourself out if you like.
How is it any different than people who are not soccer fans? If they don't care for our sport, that's their business, but you know how the "typical" US soccer fan would react if someone said "Bring soccer to the US over my dead body"
