Costa Rica 1-2 Canada
Quite an upset by Canada over a Costa Rican team that has been a force in the region for a few years now.

Canada is really on the rise, this is the best I've seen them play in my lifetime. I believe soon they will be #3 in concacaf, possibly at the end of this tournament.

They had a pretty decent side in the late 80's early 90's. They qualified in 86 along with Mexico and came 2nd in qualifying for 94 but were beaten on penalties by Australia in an intercontinental playoff. They've done nothing since then and its good to see them on the way back up.

They will have to prove it beyond the Gold Cup. The glory didn't last long in 2000 when they won the whole thing.

Group B
Guatemala - El Salvador 1:0
Trinidad & Tobago - USA 0:2
Group A
Canada - Guadeloupe 1:2
Haiti - Costa Rica 1:1
So after the impressive opening victory Canada loses to an association not even affiliated with FIFA (they are a CONCACAF member however.) Former French international Jocelyn Angloma scored a goal for Guadeloupe at age 41.

Too bad Thuram and Wiltord didn't line-up for Guadeloupe or it could have been a lot worse. :D
(I love CONCACAF... I wonder why the UEFA doesn't let Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily play independent of their countries for Euro 2008)

Yesterday's CONCACAF Gold Cup Group C Results:
Honduras - Mexico 2:1 (Honduras scored the winner in second half stoppage time)
Panama - Cuba 2:2
The 12 games so far have featured 3 draws, 8 games decided by 1 goal, and only 1 game decided by more than 1 goal.

What would happen if Guadaloupe wins the Concacaf?
They are not FIFA recognised...would they still play in the Confed Cup?

The 2007 CONCACAF Gold Cup has been a very entertaining tournament so far. Some upsets, alot of lesser-known teams doing very well, close games, going into the last round of games, everyone has a shot to qualify for the quarterfinals. I've especially enjoyed the Group C games.

No, Guadeloupe would not be allowed to play in the Con Cup. Probably the runner-up would go in their place.
