************ game, be happy with the 3 pts

quit crying about the diving, a donovan one lead to the possession of the goal. oh, but that's a us player, so he actually got fouled right?

Take the three points, and move on. I would really like to see Gooch foul again. Like I said in the PbP thread, god I hate Guatemala.

The officiating in the second half was criminal.

Get. out. of. Concacaf. Now!

Yes, typical in the sense that Guatemala isn't even remotely interested in playing soccer. They are more concerned with crunching tackles and baiting refs and opponents.

All that and we still come out on top. Not the prettiest stuff.

My man Gooch simply has to be smarter than that. Yes, the first yellow he got was a ridiculously bad call from the ref but the second was well deserved and more than that, it was just a stupid play on his part.

Mission accomplished. Move on.

By the way, stellar camera work all night long. I might have actually caught about 60 minutes of actual game coverage.

Proof that a referee can ruin a match.

Glad no one got hurt.

I'm glad it's over too. It seems like I just need to start accepting that this is the way games against Guatemala are going to be. However, it's still unacceptable that we had to hold on to the win and didn't put it away. That team, well both teams I guess, was garbage.

Shouldn't you be somewhere sweating the result v. Faroe Islands?

Glad Gooch saw red. He sucked and will miss next game.

We won the game. Guatemala with the typical sacreligous style of play. Yah, we looked very poor. But Guatemala does that to us. It's just such a cheap, nauseating style of play. The U.S. government should ban Carlos Ruiz from ever coming in this country again. He doesn't even play soccer anymore. He is just an actor who for some reason gets an Oscar from the refs everytime.

I am upset with our play, yes. Bu I also feel like Guatemala disrespects the sport so badly.

How do you propose we do that? Speed up continental drift?

Exactly.
And the timely replays were...what's the word I'm looking for...absent.

That Gooch...I hope Bradley reshuffles the lineup when the Soca Warriors come calling Saturday. I was surprised that Oguchi has a a couple of brothers and a couple of sisters in his clan. Sports must be in their blood. I like it.

Otherwise, Bob Bradley might not be completely pleased with the outcome, but that is a tribute to the defense of Guatemala. The attackers will be rueing those blown crosses and opportunities in the box for a while.

Does anyone have any idea what the first yellow on Gooch was all about?

All credit to guatemala (God I hate saying that), they did what they had to do to keep it close and put us back on our heels.

We need to step it up.

I was kinda disappointed by BB making 2 subs so early while knowing two of our backline players (Gooch, Hedjuk) had yellows...and of course then Gooch got the red and we couldn't make 2 tactical subs like we needed...only 1.

That hurt to watch, but hey, 3 points is 3 points...i guess.

Thank God for Tim Howard.

I'm guessing the same way Australia got out of Oceania.

Of course, while it was a smart move for the Aussies, it would be a colossally stupid move for us.

Unless everyone here doesn't think, after the last World Cup, we still need to learn how to win games when the referee is horrible and the opponent dives a bit?

Donovan and Beasley clearly the best players on the pitch. Donovan was excellent out on the right. Twellman moved well and had some great combination passes, shame he couldn't finish an easy chance really. It would have put the game away.

Onyewu, keep your cool!

Heijduk played well. Feilhaber and Bradley were decent, Bradley a little better. Both had a few moments of nice 1-2 passes and such.

Dempsey needs to get rid of the ball faster (dribbles too much occasionally), but he is the best goal scorer we have right now. He is almost better playing as an outright CF then on the wing. He atleast moves better.

Eddy was too timid, missed an easy pass to beasley that could of played him on for a goal.

Defense has way too many lapses. Need more consistency.

Donovan was MOTM.
