Hejduk? Pah.
Is Dempsey playing RM or is he sitting behind the strikers with Hejduk overlapping to provide the width on that side?
Is Donovan playing as a withdrawn forward/AM like he did when he scored the hat trick?

Surprised no Eddie Johnson in the starting lineup given his performances of late...oh well, he'll get his time I'm sure.

Quite a moment for the kids.. Hope they're not too nervous..;)
I kinda expected EJ to start but I guess he'll come on at some point or start the next match.

Looks like 4-3-3 to me - with Bradley, Benny and Landon in midfield - Dempsey wide right, Beasley wide left and Twellman center forward.
What do ya think?

Twellman over Johnson is absolutely baffling.

ugh
Simek and/or Spector must be wondering why the hell they are spending their short summer break watching Frankie friggin' Hejduk play.
I know I am wondering what the hell I'm doing up at 2 a.m. watching him play.
I like the guy (search my old posts for proof) but we have capable guys who are likely to play in the next WC who could use the experience.

I would guess it's a standard box midfield 4-4-2 w Donovan withdrawn a bit at forward with Twellman:
---------------Howard
Hejduk----Onyewu----Bocanegra---Bornstein
---------Feilhaber-----Bradley
----Dempsey-------------Beasley
----------------Donovan
--------------Twellman
We'll know soon enough!

There's another game in two days, so I'm sure it's staggered so everybody plays. I wouldn't read too much about EJ being left out.

The defense is good with the exception of Heydude.
The midfield is golden.
The forwards are half right. Johnson deserves to play based on his form.

We should have put our best team out in this game. You can't plan for the second game because you don't yet know what you're planning for.
I'd rather take three points tonight and go into the second game with the B-team knowing three points in the third game (which you would have the A team reseted for) will still win the group.

Not a sentence I would have thought I'd read on this board any time soon.

I don't post here often. ;)
The guy's scored hat tricks in his last two games. What more do you have to do?

How are you watching the match across the pond?...
Just curious if it is on one of the Sky (BSkyB) networks.
That would be great exposure for some of our lads who are looking for new squads come august. :)

actually, i'm not surprised to see frankie out there. he's played his heart out so far this year in mls, and imo, has earned it after coming off of a horrible injury.

The A or B team should take 9 points from this group. Trinidad is missing practically their entire squad.
Bob probably has all three lineups planned out to keep people fresh. Split the minutes the best you can. The real games are in the second round.
