Stellar Kart ftw! >.>

On a more serious note, I'm moving over the next few days, so try not to break anything while I'm gone?

Finally the teacher is gone... hopefully we can break the substitute.

I saw Skynyrd a few years ago and I was surprised how good they were, considering how few original members are still with them.

My favorite concert ever was The Who, followed up by Clapton who had Robert Randolph opening for him.

Freebird live is magical. It went on for like 12 minutes.

We're actually looking for a mid century modern home in central Phoenix to remodel. Hopefully something on the new light rail line. I'm going to be looking at opening in office downtown and I don't want to commute to far.

My jersey came in! It arrived totally earlier than I thought it would...it went from being placed on back order to at my house in a week and a half. I won't argue with that.

Anyone here like Cold War Kids and/or Muse? I'm seeing them both this Friday in Philly. It's gonna be sweet...

My friends saw this in NYC, I'm a little dissapointed I didnt go myself. Cold War Kids were good live when I saw them at Bonnaroo though.

Anyone here taken the GRE recently? I've got it two weeks from now and really don't know what to expect.

I've taken it twice...once in Fall 2005, once in Fall 2006. It's nothing too mindboggling. Do you have any specific questions about it?

I'm just wondering what the general layout of the test will be. Is it something akin to the SAT/ACT format? And did you use any of those test prep books to study or did you just go in raw?

I suppose I'm really just worried about the Math portion. I haven't taken a math class since high school and was never good at it to begin with.

I suppose I'm really just worried about the Math portion. I haven't taken a math class since high school and was never good at it to begin with.

There are three sections: 1) Essay 2) Math 3) Verbal
You can choose whether to do your essays first or last...I chose to get mine out of the way first (which I recommend). In the first essay, you are given a statement, then you have to explain why you disagree or agree with said statement. In the second, you read a short persuasive article to read ("I think another highway should be built because blah blah"), and you basically have to write an essay on all the logical fallacies that are used to persuade you...basically you're critiquing an another short essay. A common fallacy that is used is the post hoc (B happened after A, therefore A caused B)...there are others which are pretty easy to spot. This essay is the more "fun" to write.

Then there's the math section, which for me sucked, although I ended up getting a better score than on the verbal section. I can't really explain the math section...you just have to remember you high school geometry (stuff like C=pi r squared and crazy sh*t like that)...but it gets rather complicated.

For the verbal section, there's a bunch of analogies with words I've never heard of, an antonym section with words I've never heard of, and reading comprehension sections where you read a passage and answer questions about said passage.

I did use a book to study for the GRE, which helped a little. The books give you examples of exactly the type of questions that are asked, and there were a lot of helpful hints and tips (for all three sections). Then again, some people don't study at all and do great, so it's up to you.

Thanks BW. I got one of those Kaplan books and the vocabulary cards set to study with the last few days, but jeebus some of this stuff is difficult and irritating. The chances of me doing well on this shiite are slim, so I think I need to start job hunting now. :D

So we've been talking a lot about Mido and racism on the main board...but did Mido ever consider that racists have feelings too? It's true...
