I worked 5 hours.

Why do I tune into ESPN on July 4th, and see an hour's worth of coverage devoted to watching someone eat a hot dog every 11 seconds for 12 minutes? The Spelling Bee and the World Series of Dominos are more sporting than that. Competitive eating is the anti-sport.

I always thought it was baseball...

I like baseball. But I hate baseball fans who don't like soccer because it's "boring."

And I hate soccer fans that think baseball is "boring".

I'll never understand why people insult the sports other folks like just to build their own favorite sport up. I love soccer, but I love a host of other sports too.

Do you encounter these people often? Because in the US there is 10x as many baseball fans who think soccer is boring than vice versa.

The only way I find baseball enjoyable is live, at the park, with several cold beers, on a sunny 72º+ afternoon with a hot dog/brat/soft pretzel

on a TV in a dark bar on a saturday afternoon, or on a weekday evening, meh I have betterthings to do like, play darts, drink heavily, bully the jukebox...

I was a huge baseball fan until the 94 strike. I haven't watched more then 2 innings of any game since 2003. Honestly I watch so much soccer that I can't stand the consistent breaks in the action in the traditional American sports and do find baseball to be too long and boring now.

I plan on spending my royalty checks on malt liquor and scratch tickets. Wait I do get paid for that right?

All of the foreign kids I go to school with call all American sports boring, regardless of whether they have tried watching them or not. Those folks are the equivalent of Americans who bash soccer for no particular reason. Why can't we all live in one happy sports loving society?

Except the Japanese students, of course. They love baseball and soccer, the glorious hybrid bastards. :D

It's only 71 here right now but was up to 96 today. It's been as hot as 112 in the last week or so, though.

I was surprised that I couldn't find any threads complaining about it.
