So I'm moving to Bucks County Pa from NYC and have recently started posting here. Looking forward to the move; can't wait to get out of NYC, been here way to long!!!!

Couple of question re: Philly and possible MLS Team

What are the chances for Philly to get a team?

When does MLS plan on handing out some new franchises?

Where does one get info re: MLS franchise news, teams moving, Philly chances, etc, etc?

I’m going to need 1 professional to root for in Philly and a footie team can be that one!

Welcome to the fold Jack. Where in Bucks County are you moving to? My family lives near Langhorne. Great area.

Well as for the current status of MLS in Philly, a think I can confidently say that there are groups trying to bring it here. These groups are sort of fighting with each other and with MLS to make it happen. Will it be by 2009/2010 and the nefarious "16 by 2010 and then no more for awhile" claim by Garber? Who knows.

As of right now, it looks like MLS wants to add 1 more team for 2008 (to balance MLS at 14) and then expand by 2 more by 2010. Rumor has it that the first of these 3 new teams will be announced near the end of the season.

To learn more, check out phillysoccer.com and sonsofben.com. If you want to meet many of the MLS Supporters in Philly, plan on going with them to Giants Stadium on 6/16 or helping out at MLS Futbolito on 6/30. PM me for details.

I encourage you to read the 10,000 posts already in the Philly forum to look for other answers. :) If you have a specific one, let us know!

Welcome aboard!

Yeah but I wasn't counting all the non-soccer threads. So maybe it should be 5,000.

Honestly NSR posts are only around 2500 - 3000 of our 20k. This is a passionate, opinionated town

I am just a graduate of Penn State, but 2800 seems to be more than half of 2500-3000 ;)

Welcome to Bucks County Jack!

Sorry for going all off-topic. Welcome to the area Jack. Make sure you sign up for the 6/16 roadtrip and boo your former NYRBs!

Yes, it was quite a bit more than i expected. Good thing I used the Penn State system of multiplication:

If you have 7 piles of cowflop that weigh 400 lbs each, how many lbs of cowflop do you have?

It was easy. ;)

I'll make sure I count my change next time I make it to the SoccerPost. LOL

I still dont see what you Lions are crowing about. I estimated the number based on Word threads, Dave, not knowing my logic, volunteered that at least half of my guess was word threads.
