How much did Bayern pay for Klose in the end?

@footyfan: I could be wrong but I think guys like Babel or Huntelaar are above 20 M in which case Werder wouldn't do it.

They won't go for that much. 10-15M maybe. No one but Chelsea, etc. if they were interested would pay Ajax 20M for those kids.

Isn't RvN still the most expensive transfer to come out of Holland?

And neither of them are close to what RvN was when he moved to Man U.

But I forgot about the Zarate rumors. Thanks for bringing that up. Is he Sergio's brother or son? I saw the "elder" Zarate play for FCN back in the day.

i don't think werder will suffer from this.

klose is a world-class striker but he's no gerd muller and he can be replaced

bremen always spend wisely to improve their squad and i have no doubt alloffs will do the same with the 12 million euros

you're still my favourites for the title.

I hope borowski takes more of a leadership role in the team now.

One thing i wonder is...how much animosity can there be between the two teams management?...I mean rummenigge and alloffs were teammates for west-germany...

Sorry but don't critizise Borowski! The guy had so much bad luck last season I'm glad he still plays soccer.

What does playing in the same national team for a while have to do with anything? Besides that I would be suprised that anyone who is not affiliated with the Bayern management likes Rummenigge. Simply because the guy is disreputable.

I like tim borowski a lot and I think he should in the NT in front of schweinsteiger, but what I meant was simply that he will naturally be more of a leader as klose is gone. Yeah I know he had a lot of bad luck with injuries last season.

Would you like to fill me in on the "disreputable"?

If you've watched the few matches in which Borowski played last season you could see that he already is a leader on the field. I don't really think that Klose left a void there when it comes to being a leader. He was more the quite guy anyway.

IMO Rummenigge is a man without honour. I'm having trouble finding the right english expression here but in german it would be "verlogen".

I just call him a scumbag and Hoeness a ruthless asshole. They claim to love German football so much, yet they willingly decrease the German game's overall value (I am not just referring to the Klose move!) to keep themselves on top.

Yea, that's true. But Spain, Italy, England etc. have the same problem with their richest clubs so we just have to deal with it. I'm just glad the bundesliga isn't as bad as the premiership. I understand the pay is highest in that league, but I don't understand why so many players are eager to sign with EPL teams. With the likes of Chelsea, Man U, Liverpool, and Arsenal (we'll see about them now), you're essentially competing for a spot in the UEFA cup. Anyway, back to Bayern, It'll just be all the more sweet if they screw up again this year, and when we beat them in the Premiere Pokal.:)

Anyone hear any updates about Carlos Alberto? About a week or two ago I saw an article saying that Bremen were real close to signing him, but I haven't seen a word since.

Two weeks ago it looked good, but sadly nothing is clear.

The situation is difficult, because there are many parties with different
interests: MSI, Alberto, Fluminense and the clubs, who want to sign him.
MSI wants to sell him to the club, who offers the highest transfer fee.
Fluminese wants to keep him, but they don´t have the transfer rights.
It seems, that Alberto prefares to stay at Fluminese or move to a CL team.

What happened:
Hamburg offered an increased offer. Rumours say, it´s 1.1 million €
for 1 year loaning and then buying option for 8 milion €.*
With this offer they put MSI on their side.
The problem for Hamburg is the player, who doesn´t
prefare to play for Hamburg.
So Hamburg needs to make a high salary offer, if they want to get him.

About Werder:
Another club would have to pay 10 milion € to overturn the HSV offer.
He is a versatile player, who would increase the squad quality,
but Allofs has his principes. To these conditions a transfer won´t happen.
If the conditions change, we have a new situation.
But currently it doesn´t look like he will join Werder.

*Where does Hamburg has the money from?
I can tell you:
They already plan with the money for selling Van der Vaart next summer. They have to sell him next summer,
because VdV has a clause in his contract to move in 2009 for only 1.5 million € to another club.

edit:
It was clear, that Klasnic extends his contract this week for one year.
Kicker.de reports, that it will happen tomorrow.

Borowski might be a leader and he is a great player. But he isn't at the level of Klose. He was Werder's hit man. He was the man to watch by rival defenses of the Werder attack. Klose has done more as a player than Borowski.

As I said before,I hope Werder replaces Klose with a top player that can compete at the high level.

Werder mightnot have the money that bayern have. But their true strength is their recruitment and ability to sign unknown players that are full of quality.
Just look at Diego, Werder got him at a time when R. Madrid hardly remebered him. And now Madrid wants him. Good to see he continues in Werder.

werder think of it as an advantage...

“Perhaps it is an advantage that we play them so early. They have lots of new players and it will take a while for them to click.”

so i'm not so worried

Exactly, I don't see us clicking on all cylinders until December/January.

To be honest I don't know why bremen fans are thinking about playing bayern early or late.

Bremen are the better team and bayern have to reach that level and even when bayern click, you can't say bayern will be better. I don't think they will be better.

Bremen has better central defenders, and a better midfield altogether. And a better keeper. Some time for the strikers to prove themselves is needed after klose's departure, but everything else is set. Even the fullbacks are pretty good.

I think the general consensus is that Bayern have slightly better players, while Bremen have the better team.

We should wait who Bremen are going to sign but right now that comaprison of the individual players is pretty one-sided. Aside from Diego I don't see any player who's better than their Bavarian counterpart.

But in the end the better team always wins, not the the club who has the best eleven individuals.
