Do you think they would sell Klose to Lyon just to spite Bayren ?
Hendrik

Yeah, apparently they offered Lyon a Klose for Diarra + €10 swap deal but we're not in the US so the player has to agree to that and that's not going to happen. Klose has clearly stated he will join Bayern in 2008 at the latest. He even turned down Barcelona.

How did Klose turn down Barcelona? When did they even make a formal offer??

They approached his agent with a €4M a year net offer?
says SportBild. :p

Oh please. SportBild said Trochowski was moving to Dortmund on loan too. HSV didn't wait six hours to shoot that bullshit down.

I hope klose goes to lyon or barca cos that will help werder the most in terms of money.
also, those 2 clubs play like werder, while bayern don't.

I believe the relationship Bremen- Klose is already too shattered, so a move from Klose would be the ideal.
Why would Klose accept to move to Lyon, so that Bremen can get Diarra, when Bremen fans have criticised him too much.
The best for all parts involved : Klose leaves, Bremen gets money and buys another quality striker.
I hope Bremen can become a better team next year, loved to see them play since Bremen won the championship

is it true that werder are interested in either Ezequiel Lavezzi and Mauro Zarate from Argentina?
or is that just rubbish talk?

Best source for this would be the "Neuverpflichtungen" thread on the werder forums. But Werder does have quite a history of surprise transfers, so it's hard to get the facts.

It´s based on a trip by Allofs to Argentine and a newspapers article
saying, that he was there to keep an eye on both players.

It’s pathetic that klose is saying he’ll be playing for bayern from 2008. He shouldn’t even be allowed to talk to them before werder give him permission.
I don’t know why Werder aren’t reporting this to fifa.
Chelsea are reporting Real after their president declared they were in contact with robben.
Because before they can report it to FIFA, they have to give the German Football Association a chance to do something about it and all they will do is find the quickest way to clear Bayern.
You are talking about an Association that changed transfer rules RETROACTIVALLY to make cheating legal, rather than punish their "royal club!"
That is why people don't report Bayern. Nothing EVER happens to them when they are caught cheating!

Jérôme Polenz moves to Alemannia Aachen.
The 20 years old gets a contract until 2010.
Allofs: "Jérôme suffered under injury breaks and couldn´t
show his potential. We are sure, that Aachen is a good club for him
to reach his goals and wish him much luck."
Good luck from me, too.

Bild.online reports, that Werder is close on signing Brazilan
midfielder Carlos Alberto from Fluminese.
According to the article he comes on loan for next season
and Bremen gets a buying option then.

hi new here but I've just introduced myself at the Introduction Board.
I have been following Bremen for four years now and honestly I think they should worry more about their defence and reserves than the inevitable, disappointing departure of Klose.
Had Schaaf emphasized more on defence I am sure Bremen could actually avoid the disappointments of 06/07. I appreciate Bremen's attacking play but surely Schaaf could have done much better on defence (ironically he played as defender before), instead of relying an unreliable offside trap and using poor defenders like Pasanen and Wome. Perhaps Schaaf could turn his eyes on quality defenders like Pinola or check out upcoming stars in the U21 Championships

Hey, Wally, welcome to the forum. :)
Good first post.
About the offside trap i fully agreee with you,
but Pasanen and Womé are not so poor players.
Both have their qualities.
IMO the bad results at end of season result
on injury unluck and players, who had no good
stamina, because they had too many matches.
This was caused by the injuries and the WC,
shouldn´t be an alibi for the performances,
but it affects a season.
A solution would be bringing more depth into the squad
and using it to let players rotate. And bringing more depth
to it is, what Werder tries now.

Not sure about that...
The worst thing about Pasanen is his tremendous lack of pace.
I know he does have the sense to cover gaps but really, his speed is outrageously poor. The most evident example is his game against Frankfurt (1-2) this season.
He hasn't improved much since his arrival to Weserstadion at 04/05. He does not mark opponents closely, especially at set-pieces and is helpless against more skillful players, where he is often left rooted on the ground.
Wome's defensive skills is not much better than Pasanen, and sometimes I see him actually strolling around on the pitch.
Thankfully he is an excellent crosser and takes freekicks well. I sense that this is why Schaaf put faith in him. Both players, though, suffer from a lack of concentration oftenly.
I do know Schaaf has contributed a lot to Bremen's success but I always leave my harshest criticisms on his defensive tactics.
The offside trap is fragile, the backline is far too flat and he just keeps on telling the defenders to push forward, especially the fullbacks.
That is fine in modern football, I mean a lot of teams also deploy this method, but the big problem is that the fullbacks don't have the intention to return to their own half once their job in attacking is finished.
So whenever the Werder midfield is dispossessed, there are HUGE, HUGE gaps in the back and a goal is typically conceded. This is evident in matches against Barcelona, Espanyol, Stuttgart, Schalke and a whole lot of others.
If it wasn't for Wiese or the desperate lunges of Naldo and Mertesacker, Bremen's European and Bundesliga journey should end prematurely.
Schaaf should have noticed this but he doesn't seem to care. That gives me a feeling that he is stubborn, blindly pursuing an 'all-attack' policy.
Anyway, on the problem of bringing more depth, I really think Bremen should search for a suitable replacement for Diego, just in case.
My preferred choice is Gera from West Brom. He's a versatile player and he demonstrated that in EPL before, but sadly no one seems to be interested in such a talented footballer.

Not sure about that...
What happens, when you are not fit? -
You make concentration mistakes and your pace also suffers.
Look how many German NT players fall into a hole after the WC.
Why? Because they had no time to recover. They played since
2004 without a real break (euro, confed-cup, world cup).
You could see this at every player (except Schneider and Frings) from the WC squad,
especially at Schweinsteiger and Podolski.
Injury risk increase, when you are not fit.
Look how often we missed Borowski last season.
Don´t get me wrong, i am not crying, that some Werder players play for a NT.
Nah, they benefit from it in a huge way.
But it costs stamina. As already described in my last post Werder must try
to get more depth into the squad and Schaaf must use this depth then.
He did some good work with giving some reserve players a chance to show
their potential. This is one way to bring depth into the squad,
another are transfers.
Werder checks the market and is connected with some names.
According to the official Werder forum the main focus of the transfer
is set on offense midfield and forwards (if Klose leaves this summer).
