Boy, do I know what you mean. These guys didn't 'hear' you all all they're on their own agenda.

We have two threads going right now, this rivalries one and the wish and speculate thread and I'm staying away from both.
How did it go with the girlfriend thingie? Or have you got your mindset going places East right now? Must be exciting for you. My daughter's packing up to go and teach in Shanghai after the summer.

As if your blatant New Zealand bias didn't poison the America's Cup thread. ;)

Oh hell we spend thread after thread mulling about Second Choice Steve and Fat Frank and you never change your opinion either;)
"Go with the flow" I always say "Change with the wind" "Don't be dogmatic"
"Never etch your opinions in granite" and all that crap...:D

Well, Mexico made it through, beating Panama 1-0, despite getting outplayed. Scored on a set-piece while Panama hit the post a couple times and had two players red-carded.

US has 9 points from 3 games, 7 goals for, 0 against. We'll play Panama on Saturday. Too bad, I was hoping for Mexico, and I doubt they make it to the finals.

Neither will you, you snivelling war criminals, I'll support whoever goes against you, as long as they knock you back like the Vietnam war. :D

I'm struggling with this simile; how is a person (or, in this case group of people) "knocked back" by an event? Maybe knock back to the Vietnam War?

Of course, that's disregarding the fact that it's impossible to be "knocked back" in a tournament. You can lose, but you don't get sent backwards.

Ok loser, you'll get slaughtered out of the Gold Cup, like your sorry excuse of a country got slaughtered out of vietnam, then again you only have to watch the film Platoon to realise what utter cretins Americans are.

Right, because our action in a single war (which, in case you're interested, I don't approve of) defines all Americans 40 years later.

And this applies to everyone:
Can you stop with the petty insults and stupid cultural references to things that have nothing to do with our soccer teams? Cultural dissing represents the lowest form of ignorance; it's lazy, often bigoted, and has absolutely nothing to do with soccer. When I said I didn't read world rivalries for a reason, I wrote that as a way to hopefully get people to shut up. We're above that as a board. I go here because of Liverpool obviously, but people here can generally discuss things insightfully with plenty of decorum that isn't necessarily found everywhere. I don't mind a healthy discussion about US-Mexico from an analytical perspective, where both sides are willing to concede that they may not be 100% right. However, I will not stand to have our board (NSR or not) denigrate into nationalistic mudslinging simply because we happen to be born at different latitudes.

Exactly. I started a thread here because I find that the US boards are a waste of time, and we've enough quality posters here to have a lively discussion about the Gold Cup.

Yeah, right...we are losers...we totally owned you in the Mexican-American war (1846-48). Remember the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo of Feb 2nd, 1848? No? Well plenty of us "Losers" are chilling all over California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and parts of Wyoming because of it. And lets not even start talking about Texas in 1835/36 (What can I say, I am currently reading "The West:An Illustrated History":D)...and we suck sooo much 10 million Mexicans are risking their lives to cross here illegally.

Game - Set - Match USA

USA wouldn't have given Black People their civil rights if it wasn't for your enemy the USSR in the Cold War and their propaganda.

P.S YNWA, Lets leave the politics out of this okay, you yanks might like politics, but I don't.

Uggh. It's bad enough when people try to bring political smack onto these boards. It's even worse when they have no clue what they're talking about. But hey, at least this post wasn't 2,000 words like your average.

I forgot, only 10% of Black Americans have the right to vote, the other 90% are kept off of the political register. Will you dispute this fact? The US President is nothing more than Red Tsar hiding behind a phoney set of "Liberal Values".

Now if you don't mind, I am off to read the Communist Manifesto whilst listening to Bob Dylan and Rage Against The Machine.

Thank you for demonstrating that not all 18 year olds are simplistic in their thinking.

My God. What would you know? I am 56 years old. I registered voters in Mississippi in 1970. I marched against the Vietnam War from 1967 until 1975. I actually met and talked with members of the Chicago 7. But I love America and I support our football team. They are two different things. Mexico is a grand country. I can't tell from your profile, Morph, whether you are an Englishman with a fondness for Mexico or a Mexican living in England. I have been all over Mexico from the Yucatan to Tiajuana with Cuidad Mexico, Tuluca, Gaudalajara, Morelia, and Acapulco in between. My wife was born in Mexico. I love the Mexican people and culture. But I don't like their football team -- how it plays and the behavior of the players. That doesn't mean I want to insult the Mexican people.

Americans are, the only great thing America did for the world, was conquerering Omaha Beach. You should have then crawled under your rock and left the world alone.

Laughable, is that why he only pulls a door on his way home from a nightclub is it? Anyway, you're bias he's an American, every American is intellectual, even Nixon was intelligent enough to leave tapes about Watergate lying around the oval office. (I can't help but poke fun of America).

BS won't let me rep this! Excellent post.

My bad, I forgot Americans are the most intelligent populace around, of course. Then again you are bound to be aren't you? Shame Team America says otherwise and Michael Moore.

"America is the only country that went from barbarism to decadence without civilization in between." - So true.

I wasn't talking to you, you barged in as persual giving off some Liberal bullshit. You like Mexico, that's grand, brilliant, I hate America, it's as simple as that. I want a United Europe and you are stopping UK from having this. English people are being killed for a war that was not of our own and its not on. I'll like America when America leaves the world alone.

My last response to you ever. You are a completely moronic simpleton. You hate America. Good for you. Have you ever been to America? I think not.

Well, now that it's the knockout rounds, everything else can be thrown out the windows. Once you reach a tournament's knockout rounds a lot of upsets can happen, especially in one legged affairs (unlike the CL).

I am excited for the knockout rounds. Even though I am not completely sold on the USA's performance, I am happy to have a 3-0 record. If we can raise our level of play a couple more notches we can go on to win this tournament. It's also good to see some of the veteran players stepping up into leadership roles and leading the team to good performances (like DmB and Landy). Still confused by the attacking choices and the reason to play lil' Bradley.

Bob, we get it, he's your son and he's a decent player, now, let's get Clark and Mastroeni in to wreak havoc and get to the final.
