I HOPE Nobby Solano gets a great reception from the travelling Toon Army in today's game with West Ham at Upton Park.
In fact, I am sure he will.
Apart from Alan Shearer, the greatest player in Newcastle United's history in the eyes of many supporters, has there been a more popular player among the Geordie fans in recent seasons than the little winger from Peru?
To tell the truth, when it emerged that Kenny Dalglish had earmarked Solano for St James's Park in a £2.5m move from Boca Juniors, I had never heard of him.
But when I look back at nearly 30 years of covering Newcastle United and list my favourite players, Nobby is somewhere near the top.
He's one of us. Even though he hails from South America. And even though he is now playing in East London for West Ham, Newcastle and what it means to him is never too far away from his thoughts.
I could not help laughing when I rang him on Wednesday to talk about today's game.
It was an answerphone at first. But there were no words on the message. Only some guy playing a trumpet.
When I finally got to speak to Nobby, I told him I thought I had the wrong number because the trumpet player sounded like Louis Armstrong.
He loved that.
And we have loved him.
His parting shot on Wednesday was to remind all his pals in on Tyneside that Newcastle will always have a place in his heart.
And Nobby Solano will always have a place in our hearts.

I don't think any mid-table EPL team is gonna want him. He's getting old :(
A very low-table team, a team that wins promotion or a Coca-Coca League Championship team...junto a Penny :D
