Is there a place that is known to be showing the US Confederation Cup games next week? I know Dark Horse down on 2nd Street shows a lot of soccer, not sure whether they show US games

If I don't hear anything else, I think I'll try Finn McCool's at 12th and Sansom. It's got DirecTV and it's usually empty during the day; I was in there a few weeks ago and got them to put on the UEFA Cup Final. I assume the little Spanish channels (Galavision and Telefutura) are available either on Philly cable or satellite; can anyone confirm that?

Unfortunately, it seems like Comcast Cable only carries one of the Spanish-speaking cable channels that will show any of the Confed matches...and unfortunately, none of the US games are on it. This stinks pretty bad...these are big matches, I really want to see them.

I spoke to the manager at Tir na Nog tonight, and he said that whichever game is on, they will show it. They pretty much have every channel under the sun, and if you go there and say, "I want to watch this game on this channel", they will put it on.

A few things:

1) Tir na nog is 1600 Arch, right?

2) What about DirecTV? That's not related to Comcast, right?

3) Assuming we confirm this is the place in Center City, who's up for joining me?

Tir na Nog is at 1600 Arch, and DirecTV is not related to Comcast, as far as I know. They also have Dish there too, so they should be able to get any channel you need. They aren't as familiar with Spanish networks as they are with English ones, for obvious reasons, so know which station it's on when you go in. You can check soccertv.com for the channel listing.

The manager, Ken Merriman, is a great guy and will help you if you have any trouble.

I'll be there for at least one of the games.

The Dark Horse will certainly be showing the Confed Cup as long as they pick up the station, they've always showed US games in the recent past (it used to be mostly for English ex-pats but when 2002 WCQs rolled around more Yanks started coming in and they would put on our games as well, which are nearly always on free TV anyway).

What channel is the Confed Cup on anyway? I can't remember if it's on FSW or sattelitte TV, all I know is it's on something I don't get :(

According to ussoccer.com (go there and click on TV if you don't trust me), this is the TV lineup:

USA v Turkey 12:50 Galavision 6/19
USA v. Brazil 3:00 Telefutura 6/21
USA v. Cameroon 2:50 Galavision 6/23

All times are PM Eastern and all games to be shown live.

According to ussoccer.com, the Turkey match on Thursday is now going to be shown on same-day tape delay Thursday night at 7 PM EST. This is probably better for people actually seeing it.

Same deal for Cameroon on the following Monday.

Brazil on Saturday is still listed for live coverage at 3 pm

Are any of these places 21 and over because im 20 and I don't have galavision. Also it's really great to hear from other people in philly! Philly definitely needs a MLS team here with the new Lincoln center being built and all.

Jusjctin -- I don't know what Dark Horse's policies are, but I used to go there (when it was Dickens Inn) when I was 18 to watch English league.

The first place I mentioned, Finn McCool's, which is a little place, has never carded me and I look like I'm 12.

I've never been to Tir na nog.

Yeah, I almost got carded walking into a restaurant in Old Philadelphia, with my family, called Bluezette because they thought I looked like a 14 yr-old going to the bar alone, even though there were families there with children as young as 7 yrs. But I think I'll try Dark horse on 2nd.

You think Heather Mitz will be there at that joint watching?? ;)
I can go where ever, that's part of the joy of being 21.

I'm gonna go to Finn MacCool's (12th and Sansom) tomorrow night for the Turkey game. I called and they have Directv; therefore, they've got Galavision on channel 404. Feel free to join me or if you go elsewhere, post and let me know how it went. I'm not sure that they have Telefutura there, so I'll be on the lookout for a different spot for the Brazil match on Saturday.

Comcast has two Spanish channels: Univision and Telemundo. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thougt I read somewhere recently that one of the games was switched to one of the aforementioned channels. It wasn't a USA game, though. Maybe Japan.

TV information is dealt with in two places:

a) partially earlier in this thread in my post
AND
b) very comprehensively in other threads in this forum (USA - Fans and Travel)

Long story short for Thursday night: 7 pm tape delay USA v. Turkey on Galavision, which is available on DirecTv. Just having Comcast cable won't do it.

As far as I can tell, USA-Brazil is not available in Philadelphia at all. Dark Horse isn't showing it either.

Cameroon on Monday night will be the same drill as Turkey, except at 9 pm

Telefutura is available id DISH network not DirecTV. To recieve it on DirecTV you need to buy the Para Todos package and have the oval dish not the round one because stations are sent by a different sattelite. I called DirecTV because my brother has it and that's what they told me. I told him to get Dish Network.
