Nice to see you back, mate!
Yes, this Cup victory is very important for our confidence and the start of the new season. Kudos to Marko Marin for his fantastic goal! Finally we managed to get a win in Osnabrück...

Gelungener Start
Nach den Testspielen musste sich gestern das neue Team erstmals in einem Pflichtspiel beweisen. Der Sieg macht Mut für die anstehenden Aufgaben, auch wenn sicherlich noch nicht alles rund lief.

I'll be on holidays for 2-3 weeks now and hope to notice a good league start when I'm back.
Buona notte.
Yes am back borussia, did you expect any different?:)
A win @ Keiserslautern will clear all the bad reputation/memories of away games...and a certain confidence builder.Too bad i cant watch the game..oh well welcome to canadah!
Am also excited to see sharbel touma in the squad...that guy plays with great confidence and never loses his cool,am not sure if he would play alongside neuville..but if so thats major fire power up-front..something we havent had for a very very long time..the canadian guy is also a beauty!
Should be an exciting season:D

Note that Borussia's website states that Neuville was injured (is this a surprise?? he has been so unlucky) with a partial tear of the "aussenbahn im rechten Sprunggelenk"--i.e. a left leg injury. MRI today--expected to be out 10-14 days.

For one thing..his lucky that the injury is on the Lateral collateral ligament vs the medial, medial collateral injuries do not heel fast and in many cases tear into the corresponding menisucs due to their anatomical structure which means you are basically done!..a medial collateral would have been really bad:eek:
Lets hope he gets to the season opener...his services have always been key!

Thanks for translating that--I speak German fairly well, but just don't have the medical vocabulary, which is why I left it in German for the educated reader....

He has played for German youth teams. Only he knows what he will do in the future.
I read about an interview for a Serbian sports website on Smithfan's forum where he apparently said that he would like to play for Serbia which would suck:

On the other hand I'm pretty sure that Sammer personally will call Marin daily to make sure how much he's appreciated here.

He was born in Gradiska/Bosnia. He dosen't have a German parent. I don't know how old he was when he came to Germany, I guess around 1992.
Marin joined Gladbach from Eintracht Frankfurt exactly two years ago btw.
Must have been terrible for Frankfurt's fans.
Well, we 96 fans will probably see the same thing happen next year when a big club will sign 96's top-talent Wiili Evseev.
I read an interview with Frankfurt's manager back then who said that some clubs like Bayer Leverkusen pay 16-year old talents up to 9000€ a month.

Ok he wasn't born in germany, has no german parents either. So it's fair enough if he doesn't play for germany.
He did grow up pretty much all his life in germany though. At least from the age where you have memories. And he's played in the youth teams so it's 50-50 for me.
When marin joined from eitracht, he did not have a contract there did he.
So does that mean that the bayer fee you mentioned is a fee paid to kids not old enough to be signed under a contract. Just to get them to come over at 17?

"
Borussia verpflichtet Marcel Ndjeng von Arminia Bielefeld"
Is this offensive guy any good, does anybody have more details about this guy??
Seems like Borussia payed around 700,000 for this new addition!

I fear this is a desperation signing due to Oliver's injury. We shall see.

Past few years i have always wondered why not add more offensive players regardless..just to have a security blanket,i mean during proper transfer season with smarts and more research...borussia has always suffered that fire power up-front..and always leaves it to the last minute..and signings like this one...for 700,000 euros he better be more than just a face to replace neuville on the sheet:mad::mad:!

Seems like everybody at borussia thinks of him highly, lets keep our fingers crossed!
""Marcel is exactly the type of player we were looking for", said sport director Christian Ziege. "He's very versatile in attack; he can play wide on the right but also as a second striker or in attacking midfield. He also has the right kind of character to fit into the team. Both Jos Luhukay and head youth coach Thomas Schumacher know him from his time at Paderborn and Cologne."
