Welcome at Borussia-Park, my dear Canadian Friend! To be honest, I don't know much about you though... Holy cow!

Nice to see him move further south.

Did you get crazy, mate? ;)

You need to get your legends back and tell the people at the club that the club should be competing.

Can't expect less at moenchengladbach - the other of the first bundesliga rivalry. Gladbach should have won 1-2 european cups in the 70s as well if they weren't robbed in 71 and a very unlucky exit against everton.

I remember 2 decisive & close games (of course only from diverse fanzines and newspapers) at Bernabeu stadium in Madrid when we got clearly cheated by the referee. I've seen the dramatic Everton game on the DVD sent by @ Gregoriak...

C'mon, give me some infos about him.

Kyle should know him as well, I think...

Oh yeah the madrid and inter games are the ones where gladbach were cheated.

You'll be flooded with Canadians giving you all the scoop.

Wiki's info (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rob_Friend)

He's a big man, great in the air- didn't do as much at Heerenveen, but with Alves in front of him, that's why.

Of course we weren't cheated in this game. Berti simply missed the decisive penalty, I think.

@ Panic

Thanx for the info. I think he's a good choice for a 4:3:3 with his pysical strength ... and he's a young national player. Unfortunately I don't know much about Canadian soccer (it's a shame, since we have a few decent Canadian players in Europe & Germany) ... and don't watch any games from the Dutch league (only summaries of the big clubs' matches on Eurosport sometimes).

Damn, is our new Friend a tall guy!

Finally I've found a more than detailed info report about him.

Anybody wants to translate that into English...? :)

If I get a chance tonight, I'll try to do that. The big problem for me is just havign the time to type everything in as it's a big article--so I'll probably use babelfish to get all the words in and then just clean it up from there. There's some interesting stuff explaining the concept of a player draft and how MLS works in there too, as Friend was drafted in 2003 by the Chicago Fire in the MLS Superdraft. He played at Western Michigan University and was also a placekicker there for their gridiron team.

...hmmm, who was that? Well, he took them to the 1st CL title since many years - and is responsible for Borussia's relegation this season.

What did you wrong, Jupp? :(

I'll take my hat off to you then! :-) Do you think he'll be good enough for us?

Nice to see you back, btw.

Come back to Gladbach to coach? In terms of the Bundesliga, he has only managed Leverkusen. He is currently the manager of Nigeria.

I've been around but haven't had much to say. I looked at the file last night and started work on it, but it will take me a bit longer than expected to write it out (I can read most of it ok, but it's a pain to type out).

Friend could be good. They see him as somewhat like a Peter Crouch type because of his height. He's young, which is good, and hopefully he is not injury-prone as so many of our strikers have been. Too bad we don't still have Jansen--his crosses would have been perfect for a guy as tall as Friend. He could make a good partnership with Neuville as it's not a bad thing to have one tall and one short striker. One gets the high balls and one gets the low balls--and it jkeeps a defense on its toes.

yeah, and haessler is his assistant.

I think that some former players should manage gladbach perhaps

Well, Heynckes was kind of of a bust the last time around. I am not sure people would want Vogts as coach...and Netzer? Too busy listening to his voice on TV. Bonhof is scouting for Chelsea. Anybody you have in mind?

I just saw that on wiki that bonhof is scouting for them as of this last year. The others, I don't know. I think it goes more beyond the coach at this point. Some players were just plain old busts.
