Kleine played a decent first half and scored the 1:0. After the interval, our midfield was incredibly lazy and weak (I don't think that Polanski will get a 2nd chance in the nearest future), so the whole defence faced serious problems after the deflected 1:2 free-kick goal for Hoffenheim!
This 2nd disgrace within 9 days is nothing but the outcome of a totally arrogant attitude I've noted since the 3:1 win in Freiburg (the last 3 games were simply shite) ... elsewise I can't explain why they suddenly stopped playing football in the 2 half! After the 2:0, they probably thought to have easily won the match ... and rightly got punished for relaxing and laying back!
Now we'll have a key home game agaínst Mainz 05 next Monday (they surely aren't our fav opponent) ... and I'm very curious on the team's reaction after the 2 last disgraces against Lautern & Hoppenheim. What scares me is that almost all players seem to be out of shape lately...
I hope very much that the players finally check that it's still a long way to go before promotion!

2:4-Niederlage in Hoffenheim
Nach der 2:0-Führung zur Pause sah Borussia in Hoffenheim wie der sichere Sieger aus. Am Ende stand dann eine 2:4-Niederlage, die die erste nach 15 Spielen ohne Misserfolgserlebnis war.

PS: As happened against Lautern, the referee robbed us a clear goal again (should have been 3:3) ... but to be honest, we didn't deserve to get anything from the game after such a desolate 2nd half!

Nach der Halbzeitpause wollte sich das Team von Trainer Jos Luhukay auf die Defensive konzentrieren...
Ehrlich?? So eine bloede Entscheidung! Concentrate on defense for a whole Half??? Seriously, maybe the last fifteen minutes, but please...part of a good defense is keeping the other team on their heels and that does not include bunkering. Better luck next time, I guess...

Btw: It's really weird to see the Braunschweig fans (yellow tops) among the Borussia fans on the "Gegentribüne"! Obviously there weren't any separated sectors for away fans in the 70's... ;)

The game was March 18, 1978. It was my 22nd birthday and I was a student at the University of Cologne throught their program with Penn State. I caught the first train in the morning to Moenchengladbach so that I could be sure of a ticket to the match. It was a good thing too--not because the match was sold out, but because that was the morning that tickets went on sale for the European Cup semifinals in Duesseldorf a couple of weeks later. I got a pair for the Stehplaetze in the south end. 5 marks each. Now, my browser just shows a logo for "Image Banana" for some reason, so I do not have the photos exact, but most of the ID's are correct. The crowd in front of the team lineup is due to the fact that Alan Simonsen was being awarded the European Footballer of the Year (as I recall) trophy for the 1976-1977 season. He was to go out injured just 4 minutes into the match, which severely damaged Gladbach's chances agains Liverpool. Due to stadium renovations, this was the last true home match for a number of beloved Borussia players. A very special day for me.

Thanks for the info! Damn, I wish I could have seen Allan play (I'm so jealous at you and Naz ;))...

You are right. The other games took place in Düsseldorf (the 12:0 against Dortmund among them).
Btw: I really wonder to see the Braunschweig fans (yellow tops) on the "Gegentribüne". Wasn't there any away sector at that time?

Well, I only got to see Alan play for 4 minutes before he went out hurt, so I'm not sure it counts... :-). Calle Del Haye was the hero on that day. Also as i recall, the weather was a bit rainy that day (one of the resons I chose the covered Tribune), so some of those yellow "shirts" may have been raincoats instead.

Let's hope that we'll manage to stop the little slide (only 2 points out of the last 3 games) in tonight's top match against Mainz! It's a very important game at Borussia-Park ... so it's good to know that Rösler, Ndjeng, Gohouri and Brouwers are back!

We definitely have a crisis now, that's beyond dispute! :(
This time we fighted with passion, played quite well and totally dominated them after the early 0:1 shocker (13:3 corner kicks and 8:2 chances) ... but if you can't take your chances and have both strikers perfectly marked by this strong defence, you lose such a game!
2 points from the last 4 games (3 home games among them) ... that's definitely disappointing! The whole team suddenly lacks the confidence & the efficiency from the "Vorrunde", nearby we are quite unlucky with referee decisions lately.
Well, the guys were silly & arrogant against Paderborn, Lautern and Hoffenheim ... so they don't have to complain about the pressure they will face during the next days and weeks!

Felix Borja gave visitors FSV Mainz 05 the lead as early as the third minute at the BORUSSIA PARK. And that's how it stayed until the final whistle - despite several good opportunities for Borussia.

The million dollar question for me is,how could you conceive a goal in the 3rd min of a home game..and not be able to at least build nuff pressure to recover??please look back at the stats..normally teams that score so early...get in trouble later as the game runs! as i have said many times when it comes to gladbach i dont care all that much about results,i will be a fan for life..but 3rd min goal in your own house..and nothing???am not sure if this team has built the right structure yet!
ps: colauto and touma are bringing me bad memories of igor belanow/toni polster...so much hope that never assisted gladbach till the bitter end!
