Well, we lost the last test before the start of the "Rückrunde" 1:3 at the ATU Arena in the derby against Fortuna Düsseldorf (3rd league top team). Sebastian Schachten, the winner of this winter camp, scored our only goal.

Somehow it's not bad to finally suffer a defeat again, so our players get warned that we didn't get promoted yet. Better losing now than against Lautern...:-)

Btw: Lautern have just signed a new striker from the Romanian champ Steaua Bucharest ... what's surely not so fine for us with our recent problems in defence.

We have a new defender in "Thomas Kleine"

Borussia
28 Jan 2008, 01:18 AM
He was among the 3 best 2nd league CB's during the last three years and the best from last season, scoring also 9 (!) goals for my local team SpVgg Greuther Fürth! He's a player with a great attitude and was bought for € 700,000 as replacement for Roel Brouwers (injury) and Steve Gohouri (Africa Cup). Nearby he's an investment for next season.

Here's a few infos about him:

I took the liberty of translating this piece. See the 'Canucks Abroad - January 2008' thread in the CANADA forum.

Sorry in advance for any translation errors as I don't always understand all the original German and I also tend to try to cut down on the German idioms and use Canadian / North American terms.

We could not even win at home against a 9 person lautern squad ! this is not good but perhaps a reason for the team to worry a but about how they are going to perform in the 2nd half of the season:mad:

Yeah Nez, that was one of the most embarrassing disgraces I've ever seen and should give the guys to think about their attitude! It seems that we always underestimate teams from the bottle of the table at Borussia-Park...

The performances against Jena & Paderborn were pretty bad, but last night was the worst of the whole season in my eyes! Scoring an early goal ... and then doing nothing for the rest of the game (at least we had 2-3 good chances by the disappointing strikers Neuville & Rafael after the interval). Typical for this night that we didn't even manage to keep the 1:0 lead although we were playing 11 against 9 during the last 20 minutes...
It's incredible to concede the 4th goal in a row after a free-kick!

Thomas Kleine was the only player to show a decent performance, the rest was simply BAD! If Jos doesn't manage to bring the guys down to earth again, we'll get serious problems in this Rückrunde! I hope that they'll learn their lesson now and finally understand that we aren't promoted yet and still have to fight against every opponent! You won't beat one single team in this league with only 50 %...

I'm very curious of the reaction against Hoffenheim and Mainz.

PS: What a disappointment for Christian Ziege as well, who celebrated his birthday yesterday. Congrats!

Gladbach 1-1 Kaiserslautern

Sascha Rösler gave Gladbach a first-minute lead over Kaiserslautern at the BORUSSIA PARK. But the visitors, down to nine men, equalised in the last minute.

Jos Luhukay is very disappointed of his team

http://www.torfabrik.de/uploads/pics/fck_luhukay.jpg

Richtig sauer.

... but he has to ask himself why he was such a coward to bring the defensive midfielder Svard for the disappointing Nando Rafael instead of Touma although we were in numerical superiority! That was the bad sign to the team in my eyes, since you can't only defend against 9 top motivated men but should try to go for the decisive 2:0!

You know what man, nowdays in prof sports..you really cant assume the
results or take anything for granted! but this is something that might be worth looking into deeper...no possible way for me to understand..specially from a coaching stand-point,how could you be the 2.liga leader and talk about promotion and how much of a drive this team has...and open your season at home..score early and sit back and also receive a goal???honestly am not always about results..but what the hell where they thinking???no-way you can justify this attitude/performance..really really makes you hurt and dislike such a squad! Just when you think there is new blood flowing ugly things like this happen...things that as much as you wanna BULL SHIT yourself out of it and forget it or come up with an excuse to explain it:mad:..you just cant!

Borussia

but what the hell where they thinking???

Well, that's a good question...

Fact is that we played as bad as in the last home game before the winter break (or even worse) and deservedly dropped another 2 points against a team from a relegation spot! How I mentioned before, they always seem to underestimate opponents from such table regions at Borussia-Park...

Ok, at least we were in numerical inferiority against Paderborn when we conceded the 1:1 ... but this time we played 11 against 9 (!!), so there's absolutely no excuse!! It's a disgrace, and it will have consequences for the team ... since Luhukay seems to be very mad at the moment! I heard that there will be even 2 training sessions tomorrow (on a Sunday!), what has never happened in the past.

Let's hope this game was a wake-up call like the 1:4 defeat in Mainz in the Vorrunde...

Have a nice weekend.

Something scary is going on and i just have a bad feeling about it,Gladbach cannot hold on to results and scored goals!
This is something major! am not expecting to win every single week...but how we win and lose and respond to certain situations is an indication of how much depth we have vs perhaps "Just a lucky 1st half of a season "! 2 weeks in a row we have displayed an anatomy & physiology of a very sick team....god save us all i can say:(

Well he actually scored our first GOAL,not sure how well he has played so far though since i havent watched the game live! Just seems like most teams are getting familiar to our "scheme" and we just dont have enough weapons/coaching to throw in new formations and surprise them...also like last week we love to protect the result, but then we cant even perform to a level to maintain it! Anyway am really tired and have payed my dues to gladbach as a fan for the past 30 years...let the best teams move on and get promoted to the top-flight and the week & spineless ones remain in the 2.liga,enough is enough!
