I'm really curious whether we'll manage to stay unbeaten even after the top game in Freiburg (our only defeat was against Mainz at matchday 3) ... especially since we have to replace our most important player Marcel Ndjeng. It's going to be a very tough game against a very strong side (they lost only 2 home points until now), so much will depend on our defence! I hope the guys can cope with their top striker Pitroipa...

It's still unclear who will replace Ndjeng on the right flank, there's more options at the moment. Van den Bergh might come in on the left, so Marin moves to the right ... the same with Sharbel Touma. However, my feeling tells me that Coulibaly will get the chance to start against his former team mates, especially as he was pretty good lately. Upfront I'd start with Neuville and Colautti, since Friend has been very poor since his great game in Fürth.

We'll see...

Damn, just another bad news recently!

So it seems that Marko Marin will be out as well with the flu :( ... unless he gets fit until Monday.

Well, Gohouri lost his 'starting eleven' spot after the famous "disco affair" the weekend before the derby ... so he surely wouldn't have played from the beginning. However, you never know that happens with the other 2 CB's before & during a game...

Well perhaps this may be a blessing in disguise and gohouri might use it to redeam himself and play with full-intensity/intelligence

Let's hope so.

Btw: Rob Friend will definitely start again near Olli (despite his latest average performances).

CLICK (http://www.torfabrik.de/profiabteilung/borussia-moenchengladbach/datum/2007/12/07/rob-friend-ist-gesetzt/).

Quote:

So dear Rob, please let's finally see your former great form in Freiburg!

Good to know that we have enough alternatives for every position (Polanski will sit on the bench again and might come in)!

Very good news to hear. I needed a morale boost for finals week. The link I posted doesn't really offer much information other than the result, so could someone fill me in on the details of how the game went?

So dear Rob, please let's finally see your former great form in Freiburg!

Thanks for finally scoring again, my Friend! :)

Typical away game & strategy for us this season ... namely scoring an early goal, then defending well and playing dangerous counter attacks. Freiburg dominated the game (especially after the interval), but rarely managed to create good scoring opportunities ... whereas our efficiency in attack was simply unbelievable (3 chances, 3 goals)! Oliver Neuville was almost invisible during the 90 minutes, but in the decisive moments he superbly assisted all 3 goals (the 2:0 and 3:1 were nearly identical scenes)! Terrific finishes from Rob Friend (great shot from close range) and Sascha Rösler (2 perfect headers).

To be honest, I expected a defeat tonight ... but the guys proved me totally wrong. Kudos to the team, especially as we had to replace Ndjeng, Marin and Svard. Polanski surprisingly started near Pauuwe in a 4:2:2:2 system and played pretty well in my eyes. The same for Coulibaly against his former team. Great header own goal from Patrick Pauuwe!! :D

Thanks to this away victory in Freiburg, we are 8 points ahead of spot 4 and definitely "Herbstmeister" (no matter how we'll play the last home game)! Really impressive, when you remember our terrible season start...

Danke Jungs, Danke Jos!

Don't get me wrong, Herbstmeister is great, but it doesn't get you promoted. It is, however, a great step in that direction. Hard to believe after the somewhat rocky start that this team has just taken off and is powering their way thru the 2 Liga. It will be interesting to see what changes, if any, they make during the winter break.

In another note, I got one of those "Weihnachtsueberraschungs" packages from our team thru sport-auktion.de. With my luck, it will probably have VIP tickets in it, which I won't be able to use from Columbus... I'll let everyone know what's in it when I get it in a few weeks.

Last game before the winter break on Sunday against the bottom team SC Paderborn, and about 40,000 fans are expected at Borussia-Park in order to celebrate the "Herbstmeisterschaft". :) If we win, we'll be 7 points ahead of spot 2. However, I expect a similar tough game as it was against Jena! Paderborn has the 3rd best defence in the league and a manager who knows us very well. Nearby they need every point and will surely fight as hell!

Let's hope that our guys will be concentrated and don't understimate them ... then we should be able to keep all 3 points at BP once again!

Btw: Both managers left their clubs after serious disputes with their bosses (the former Borussia skipper Holger Fach got fired by Königs due to Dick Advocaat, which was one of the biggest mistakes in our club history ... whereas Jos Luhukay voluntarily left Paderborn after a controversy with boss Finke), so both should be top motivated to win this game! ;)
