What an impressive performance of the whole team in Fürth! The hosts played quite well and had more ball possession (about 60:40 %) & 8:2 corner kicks, but Borussia's defence was simply too strong and didn't allow the Fürth strikers any good scoring opportunities. Another difference between both teams was the attack, i.e. Rob Friend. Terrific performance, we didn't only score all goals but won also every duel with Biliskov and played some great passes resp. created 2-3 very good scoring opportunities missed by Rösler & Van den Bergh. KUDOS!!! He got deservedly celebrated by the 3,000 Borussia supporters with "Rob Friend" chants when he left the pitch for Touma.

How mentioned above, Fürth wasn't the worse team ... but Borussia scored 2 early goals after fantastic cross balls from Ndjeng (he was superb again) & Van den Bergh and was simply too clever & self-confident in order to get many problems after this early two-goals lead! Fürth created a lot of pressure after the interval ... nevertheless they didn't manage to create scoring opportunities. I think that speaks clearly for Gladbach's defence on this evening! It was the 2nd season game for Filip Daems (after his long-term injury), and he proved again his quality as CB (don't forget that he's a LB and played the CB position against Köln for the first time). Maybe Oliver Neuville was the only BMG player who underperformed in Fürth (he was totally invisible during the whole game), although he assisted the 2:0 ...

Friend hits hat-trick in Fürth

Jos Luhukay's men strolled to a 3-1 win at Greuther Fürth on Friday evening. Rob Friend scored the first of his three goals as early as the ninth minute, and not until stoppage time did the home side pull one back.

PS: Nice gesture from Greuther Fürth before the game, when they played "Die Elf vom Niederrhein" for the Gladbach supporters. It was the second stadium that played our hymn after St. Pauli's "Millerntor".

Hey Squid thanks for the link..i finally managed to watch the game on my computer, quality wasent that great but beggers cant be choosers...thanks again man!
I personally think we where too predictable in this game, and for a mastermind such as ottmar we got exposed to quick and easy. This gladbach team had more juice and talent to press earlier in the game and not allow that "pasta chef" score 2 goals like that..instead of going into such a deffensive game-plan i would use more offense ....anyway thnx again squid and hope to maintain the good performance in the 2.liga:mad:

Are you sure you made use of the right stream link? Or did you watch another game? :-) You can't play too offensively at Allianz-Arena if you want to avoid a disaster ... but in contrast to you, I saw a Gladbach team which played bravely and created a few very good scoring opportunities (especially before the interval)! Who knows how the game would have turned if Oliver Neuville didn't miss two 100 % scoring opportunities (it could have been 0:1 and 1:1)...

Of course, Bayern dominated most of the game and had more ball possession, but I didn't see many clear chances from them. Pity that Heimeroth made that terrible mistake immediately after the interval (which led to Luca Toni's first goal), since he was playing quite well. Toni's 2nd goal was superb, though ... and I think that many other teams would have fallen appart after a 0:2 lag against Bayern in front of a 69,000 crowd. But our team proved its character & fighting spirit and scored a great goal by Marcel Ndjeng, putting Bayern under pressure until Klose's late 3:1.

I didn't like to see a few easy turnovers in the midfield during the first 25 minutes (especially from Levels and Ndjeng), which enabled Bayern to play 2-3 dangerous counter attacks ... nevertheless I'm very proud of this performance and think that the 7,000 Gladbach fans at stadium would agree with me! We gave the top team of the Bundesliga a great fight until the end of the game and managed to create 3-4 very good scoring opportunities (Marin, Pauuwe & Neuville)! Unfortunately we made a terrible & lethal mistake short time after the interval ... and when you concede a goal against Bayern in their stadium, it's never easy to come back (especially when you are a 2nd league team).

KUDOS TO THE WHOLE TEAM FOR THIS GREAT FIGHT!!!

PS: What a shame I couldn't travel to Munich this time. :(

GOOD lord...Borussia are u asking me weather or not i know it was the right game..am not sure how to take your question??yes i saw gladbach play today after many years thnx to squidward....i know we were playing at bayern and all that..but gladbach had the strength to show more power up-front earlier in the game...its only my opinion,i like to see a team fall apart 5-0 than do the same old stratedgy of trying to hold back..hope for counter attacks and finally when they are down9which always is the scenario)...try to open it up front in a very limited amount of time and also conceive more goals due to rushed playing(like klose last min goal)...i really like our team now..and it would have been nice to take the element of surpirse and not have played so much deffence from get go...our goal keeper though i agree...made really really terrible mistakes..anyway seems like its going to be like this for a while..till me make it back to top flight:(

Well, it wasn't meant seriously (how you can imagine) ;) ... but I wondered about your above statement! Did you really expect us to dominate the mighty Bayern in their own stadium in front of a 69,000 crowd? Don't forget they have been unbeaten for 6 months now ... and be also aware that we are not the Gladbach team of the 70s but a 2nd league team! Did you really see a bad performance and an only defensive Gladbach team tonight? Didn't you notice Olli's 2 big chances (we could have taken the lead after 45 minutes and scored the 1:1 immediately after the unnecessary lag)? Didn't you see Marin's & Pauuwe's great shots?

I don't know what you expected (maybe your expectations were too high)... but please don't forget the fact that we played away, are a 2nd league team, spent € 3 million and Bayern about € 60 million before the season!

I grew up with the 70s gladbach and i am not comparing it to the golden era..but our team seemed solid with enough determination and talent today..and i think maybe it would have been a smart move to take advantage of it..and not get into such deffensive shell from get go,its very predictable and always end in the same way it ended today....am saying between closing up against a team like bayern(ill never call them mighty..rich over rated maybe, sorry i dont like them them and i love to express it)at home turf and hoping to walk away after 90 minutes..and showing more attacking style and power(which i think we did have it today) just my impression at least..the team was well prepared and players looked solid enough to press up-front more..between those two..ill take going down on our legs vs. feet! but then our goal man was a huge factor as well...i think 2 of the goals could have been avoided... its football though..and thats why some win it some lose it...and why its so exciting.Funny thing today..i remembered right after beating real madrid 5-1 we had to play against bayern immediately..and we escorted them out of bokelberg with either 3 or 4 goals....anyway its done and over and green and white will always be my fav colors....regardless!
