Unfortunately, the deal fell through, even though both the club and the player agreed terms, Pana could not find a suitable successor, so we will probably have to wait until winter. Andreas Hinkel was also linked with us, but I think Andre Lima will be our last signing of the summer.

Tomorrow we play Golfsburg, should be a fun game, seeing Ashkan and Marcelinho should be a fun time. I'm hoping for a good win. Just about everyone is back in training, so a full team will be available to Favre.

That was one hell of a goal!

This season you can have a real team and not a playing ground
for ghetto kids and players, who have hair-dressers as their manager. :D

Sure, it´s early in the season, but it looks like the necessary cuts are done.
I see Hertha definitely improving :) , but some people go a bit too far IMO.
(Hoeness in kicker (link) (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/144368/): "Hertha in CL until 2010")

Ja I did a spit-take too, EE when I heard about Hoeness. But you are right, the club is going the right direction now, especially if
"Okobombooooo!" can continue scoring :D

This is funny:

Felix Magath (VfL Wolfsburg): "I must congratulate Hertha's main sponsor Deutsche Bahn, who needed three hours to get us here from Wolfsburg instead of the usual 60 minutes, so I can't blame my team. It took until the second half for us to prove that we can play better football. Sadly, after our equaliser we failed to move forward. That is why Hertha deserved their victory in the end."

My trip from Hamburg to M'Gladbach was the thing that they based Hell on. It was awful, and next time, I don't care, I'm going to rent a car.

Very good win. 1st goal by Pantelic...class. But his overall contribution to the game was very good. Not bad for the birthday boy (well it was yesterday but still :) )Couple of mistakes by MSV helped us too. Simunic played very well. Hope that Arne is not out for too long. Tobias Grahn looked pretty good in the few minutes he was on, look for him maybe next week to take the place of Ebert. Gilberto does very well, going from being a LM last year for us, to LB for Brazil and CM for Hertha. Sier gute!

My ratings for this game:

Drobny: 3
Chahed: 3 Improves game by game, hopefully this continues on, as much as I criticized him in the past. Maybe he's getting a kick up the butt with all the rumors around Vyntra?
Steve van Bergen: 4 Was a bit at fault for Lavric's goal, but solid
Simunic: 2 Best game for Hertha in a long time.
Fathi: 3 Solid, his offensive game is a lot better than last years
Dardai 3,5 Good, didn't deserve his yellow card either
Gilberto: 3 Good as well
Ebert: 4: Not his best game...like to see Grahn in there at some point
Lucio 3: Little speedy punk...Love him so far, maybe the best buy out of a bunch of pretty good ones.
Lima: 4 Looks like a good purchase, he's strong and links play up well. Just needs that goal, he'll get it soon I'm sure
Pantelic: 1,5 Great performance, one of his best for Hertha, took the goals well, went out wide or back towards midfield to collect the ball and linked up play well.

From what I saw, both those goals were "deflection specials......."

Was the first one? Don't even remember a deflection and I don't know the German word for deflection. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though, as the stream from HerthaTV is not HD quality :)

Hertha all-time scorer list in the 1. Bundesliga:

1. Michael „Micha“ Preetz 84
2. Erich „Ete“Beer 83
3. Lorenz „Lenz“ Horr 75
4. Marcelinho 64
5. Karl-Heinz Granitza 34
6. Erwin Hermandung 34
7. Wolfgang Gayer 30
8. Marko Pantelic 28
9. Arno Steffenhagen 26
10. Holger Brück 26
11. Alexandre „Alex“ Alves 25
12. Franz Brungs 24
13. Wolfgang Sidka 24
14. Kurt Müller 20
15. Nando Rafael 16
16. Pal Dardai 16
17. Bernd Gersdorff 15
18. Erwin Kostedde 14
19. Arne Friedrich 13

Number 19 is pretty funny...lol. Pantelic probably will be 5th this year (bar a very long Marko Pantelic cold streak/injury). He's 409th in the Bundesliga Torjager table if you were wondering ;)

Marko Pantelic...class act...same sentence??????

Short translation: Marko Pantelic bought a whole order of pasta and scampi not just for his teammates, but for 70 co-workers of Hertha BSC.

The second one was a deflection of his own leg!

Really goofy goal.
