Well our streak had to end somehow. Doc were you at the game? How was it?

Yeah. I was there. I would say it was closer to 2-0 then 1-1. Hertha didnt do much at all. They might have a really tough time this season.

Yea I think so.

Good luck the rest of the season, hopefully Takahara will come back soon.

People are already talking relegation battle for Hertha. BVB might be right there with them unless both teams find some balls....

Next weekend will be Hertha - VfB.... both sides will be looking badly in the early table if they lose, so its quite an important early match, as far as morale is concerned.

If what I saw this past weekend is any indication, Hertha and BVB are both gonna get murdered this coming weekend...... :(

Im confident VfB will beat Hertha, but nothing is guaranteed, especially away from home...

Well, as BVB showed yesterday against Duisburg, nothing is guaranteed at home either!

I think Hertha are a mess, not just on the pitch but all over. I can't even try to defend Dieter Hoeness anymore.

The problem is, who can Hertha bring in to fix the mess??

I'm not going to panic the 1st game of the season.

I am worried though because Hoeness seems to want to bring in prospects like Lustenberger and Kevlak and not players that can help us now. We desperately need another striker and another defender. We also probably cannot sell Pantelic to Besiktas, he maybe trouble, but he can put the ball in the net, which very few of our players can do. We probably going to need 2 defenders as well, one that can play RB (Chahed has no confidence out there) and a CB (Andreas Schmidt as backup CB? Thats asking for trouble IMO).

I hope that the team fights harder against Stuttgart than they did against Frankfurt. If they can't do that, then we are in big trouble.

I think the Pantelic sale rumors are a crock of shit for the very reason you mentioned. He's the only player you guys have who can put the ball into the net.

To be honest, I'm glad you still have faith in your team, but Favre will have to be a miracle worker to do something with that bunch.

Yeah, I know I'm exaggerating a bit because of the first day, but take an honest look at that Hertha team.

I'm riding BVB because I'm angry, but I know we have the talent on hand to pull out of it.

I can't say the same for you guys......

Not trying to be an a-hole, it's just how I feel.

You seem to ride Degen a lot these days, but Chahed I think is even WORSE. Dude belongs in the Regionalliga I think. Next week, our favorite hacker (Simunic) is back as well.....I've lost faith really in those 2, and Fathi isn't that good either.

I hope that our midfield and Pantelic can carry our team the next few weeks as the team brings reinforcements in. Hertha have just had a 1.5 mio euro transfer bid for defender Loukas Vyntras (Panathanaikos) rejected...

I think Fathi is another who could have been very good, but believed the press when he was 'hot' and thought he was great already. Those guys are the ones who tend to go to crap.

One problem with that. Decent teams can shut those guys down. And sorry, but Pantelic isn't worth a freakin' Euro unless he's on one of his "hot streaks."

Take a look. Pantelic reminds me of Smolarek. When they are hot, there's no one better. When they are not, they really suck.

Saw that at "kicker." My reaction was "Who?"

That's what I mean when I say I can't even try to defend Dieter Hoeness anymore.....

Yea...its too bad Gimenez left. He wanted to leave and the club got a good offer, but he was a good stabilizer, scored important goals and complemented Pantelic pretty well. I still have faith in Pisczcek though, and once again, way too early to judge this early. Even if we get smashed by VfB, i still refuse to panic.

It's not about whether you guys get smashed by VfB or not. That will happen if VfB shows up to play.

It's not about the start. Look at that roster and follow what's going on with the atmosphere surrounding that club.

The fans against the management, some of the young players against the management....

Right now, that atmosphere is POISONED.

That's what I'm talking about.....

Hertha have signed some defensive help.

FC Zurich defender Steve von Bergen (Swiss, 1 cap) arrives for 1.5 mio euros. The 1.81 m (Another small defender????) center defender will sign a 3 year contract and probably make his Hertha debut against Stuttgart.

They signed a defensive player. Time will tell if he's any "help...."

I'm wary of players from the Swiss League. The only one who isn't overrated is Stuttgart's Ludovic Magnin and he can't get a game right now.

Before you say Dortmund's Alexander Frei, Frei is Swiss, but he didn't move from the Swiss League. He was with Stade Rennes in France before he joined Dortmund.

That means Boateng finally gets his move to Hamburg.

Because he's injured, he's usually Stuttgart's first choice LB ahead of Boka. Barnetta and Eggimann are also solid players.

What i think of Hertha is that i think they made a good move in getting Favre as coach, since he has a very good track recrod - if that is anything to go by, i believe he can form a solid team out of Hertha.

Obviously the side isnt there yet, but a loss away to Frankfurt is not tragic either, Eintracht have a pretty underrated team in my opinion.

I believe the talks of Hertha being in a crisis are exagerrated, i think once the team begins to gel a bit better, which could takeup to 5-10 matches, then the team will begin to perform much better. I expect them to finish in the midtable this season, somewhere between 7-12. No brilliant, but it won t be a relegation fight either.

Im glad VfB is playing them this early because i think at this point Herthas form is still low enough for us to be the big favourites going into this game, and im confident we will take 3 points.

It is a constant battle between Boka and Magnin for the starting spot. First half of last season was all Boka, second half was all Magnin. Boka go to start the first match of the season on Friday and it wasnt because Magnin was injured, but because Boka was fitter.

Personally i prefer Magnin to Boka, though both are good. I expect to see Magnin back in the starting 11 pretty soon.

there are so many good strikers out there and Favre was fixed on Raffael. There are so many better strikers one can get for 5mio instead of 10... for the moment keep Pantelic and get the best out of him. For Gimenez he has been constantly loosing a bit of his finishing over the last 5 seasons, but he was always very hard working and still would have been a plus.

I go with you on that one....

Thanks for the correction on Magnin. I didn't list Barnetta because I think he is too inconsistent and people tend to remember his "sparkling" performances and forget his "average" ones.....

No comment on the other guy.
