Yea I was a bit surprised by that too. Guess they do "want" to change ;)

10 million euros almost in 2 transfers out:
Kevin Prince Boateng->Tottenham 7.4 mio euro
Christian Gimenez->Deportivo Toluca 2 mio euro
The Gimenez deal caught me offguard, but he evidently wanted to move back to our hemisphere I guess. Its also weird because we just bought him for around 1 mio euros from Marseille just this summer, so getting 1 mio euros basically for a player who did well for us is barely acceptable to me, since he is pretty old even for a striker.
I hate transfers this close to the season though. I think it might mess with the team chemistry (even though everyone knew that Boateng would not be back). Guess Lukasz Pisczcek will get a good chance to get the starting spot, I thinking Favre actually was going to start him anyways. He really seems to like him. It probably will also mean that Hertha will be buying a lot of players as well, with some money for once in our pockets, I reckon Veli Kevlak and Lustenberger will be bought.

Hertha has 11 mio € to spend and they want atleast 4 new players.
2 defender, 1 midfielder + 1 striker
Loukas Vyntra(Panathinaikos) and Raffael (FC Zürich) are the newest names.

I think we may have more than 11 mio euros, something more like 14.
Hertha beat Dynamo in the "Gemeinsam gegen Rassismus und Gewalt" :D Srdjan Lakic scored for Hertha. Jolly Sverrisson, the Hertha legend and Icelandic National Team coach, played for Hertha in this game.

Very good financially. And I'm a bit confused here. Are you saying that Gimenez' age makes the deal "barely acceptable" to you? As in were it not for his age, the deal would not be acceptable at all?
I mean, I know where you would be coming from if that is what you mean. I thought he and Pantelic were developing a nice little partnership.
I hate transfers this close to the season though.
I am with you there. I think these types of deals usually wind up costing points at the start of the season.

I can't say anything about who you guys might get. I don't have a clue on who they like.
However, I think it says something that a player like Gimenez jumped ship. I think nothing of Boateng because as you said, everyone knew he was leaving.
I hope Favre is the coach everyone says he is. Otherwise, I think the start of the season might be a bit difficult for you guys........ :o

From the BILD-newspaper:
In the Bundesliga there is one real and one half Hoeneß.
The real one sits in Munich, the half one in the capital ...
While Uli has success, nothing works at brother Dieter.
Since the start of the century he speaks about the
championship and the Champions League.
Bonn become capital again before Berlin
wins something in the Bundesliga.
The standings in the last seasons: 4th, 6th, 10th.
To avoid relegation Dieter wants to go shopping now.
He sensed it after his new coach Favre told him,
that Hertha has a catastrophic squad. The "Eidgenosse"
thinks faster than Dieter ...
If you come as a coach from Switzerland, you think:
"Hurra, i may coach in the Bundesliga!"
But in Berlin you think after the first training:
"Help! May i leave?"
When Favre will sense in which situation he is,
he will flee to the Switch embassy and ask for returning to Switzerland.
Hertha gives me nothing. If they would at least let mascot "Hertinho"
play, they could make a little bit of fun.
And now they send Gimenéz to Mexico, their best striker.
In their attack now only old fart Pantelic:
He can´t play football, he can just provoke and bleat.
He is a "Bazille" like Simunic, the butcher.
This hasn´t anything to do with football.
They are as rowdily as the Hertha youth. The kids want more money and want to leave.
They are a Ghetto gang. They fit in a tv show, but not in a stadium.
Even at "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (American idol in Germany)
moderator Dieter Bohlen - in contrast to Hoeneß-Dieter - would sense,
that they have little talent and absolute no behaving.
Anyhow: Hoeneß could dispose of Great-Boateng for 7.4 millions to Tottenham.
For the football school he signed a new pedagogue.
Well, Dieter: Better rent a "super-nanny" for you difficult boys.
author: Mario Basler
Don´t take it serious, it´s just fun,
he does it with nearly every BL-team. :D
But the statement with the ghetto-boys absolutely fits IMO.

Oops, that was Holmar Sverrisson, son of Jolly, who is on trial at Hertha. He is also a center back.

Yeah, Basler is a unicum.
btw: Yesterday he predicted Hertha with current squad on rank 11
and Nurnberg on rank 8.
For me Hertha is a big question mark. Very hard to predict,
some players left, but good potential in the youth.
Will be interesting what Favre can make out of it.
Maybe they suck or Favre acts like Magath at VfB
and they become the surprise of the season.

That is about how I see it. It all depends on what Favre can do with what is left.
But if Favre does a great job, you can bet brother Uli will there waiting to steal him away!

Here's a Sky Sports article (http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11881_2637421,00.html) with K-P Boateng whining about how Hertha acting like they won't miss him hurts his feelings.
Here's what I feel about it.
NEWSFLASH YOU IDIOT! BECAUSE OF THAT MONEY, THEY WON'T F#CKING MISS YOU MUCH!!
YOU NEVER DID A F#CKING THING NOTEWORTHY FOR HERTHA ANYHOW! YOU'VE DAMNED SURE DONE NOTHING TO WARRANT THAT KIND OF TRANSFER FEE!! DAMNED RIGHT THEY SOLD YOUR SELF-CENTERED ASS!
HE SAYS, WAAH!! THEY SHOULD BE CRYING!! THEY SHOULD MISS ME!!
My advice to you young Mr. Boateng? Shut the f#ck up and get over it.
F#cking self-centered idiots like that piss me off.
He might be right about what's going on at Hertha, but this bullshit about them hurting his feelings?
F#ck you man. Get over it and move on.
Totally agree.

So I got the internship in the Hackesche Hoefe!
I am very ready to get to see some Hertha BSC games. Anything I should be wary of or look for?
Oh and if anyone has any leads on apartments in the area for 300$ or so a month for a college student for a month, pleaaaase PM me or respond on this or something. I'd like to have my roommate figured out aways from time to be there.

I wouldn't be too wary of anything, there always a few bad apples, but I think you'll be alright.
As for today's game, lucky escape! Several clear chances for Haching, even a penalty, given away by *wait for it...................* SIMUNIC  but no goals, and Hertha mercilessly took almost all of their chances for the 3:0. Pisczcek and Lucio had their debuts.
On Sportschau, it is reported that Veli Kevlak and Lustenberger will be signing for Hertha. Combined age: 37! :D Combined fee...between 3-7 mio euros.

If he continues to act this way, I don't see how he can crack the national team squad. If not for anything else, loew will keep him out for chemistry's purpose. One bad apple can affect the whole bunch. Grow up Boateng.

Let's see what he can do in London.
Face a joey Barton/Lee Bowyer type and get kicked all the way out of the field and back to reality.
The fact that he promotes himself as a 'ghetto kid' and a tough guy won't do him any good in the Premier League, because obviously, there are enough 'tough guys' there that will want to test the new kid.
