What's going on with Hertha?! I read they cancelled another contract recently, Christoph Schorch.
Did Hertha cancel it? I read the player cancelled it.
I just heard Schorch came with a haircutter as manager to Hoeness
and wanted to be loaned to another club.
Honess was angry about such unprofessionell behaviour
and threw the "player manager" out of his office.
He didn´t want to go and both had a fight.
The haircutter has order to stay away from Hertha
and according to BILD Schorch cancelled his contract.

Well third signing of the season for Hertha, Lucio arrives for less than 2 million euros. He's a defender/defensive midfielder. He will not join though until August.
Hertha have also arrived in Austria for training camp.
ALso there is a bit of buzz around Hertha's on-trial Ghanaian, Kweku Essien (23 jahre), who's been called by the Berliner Kurier as "mini-Ronaldinho."
Maybe its the hair?

Essien certainly is no "mini-Ronaldinho" ( ironically he's quite a bit taller than the Brazilian ). He rather plays like Kevin Boateng, central midfielder with excellent vision and good passing, very strong physically. Just the modern midfielder Ghana seems to produce in numbers at the moment.
Berlin newspapers report a transfer fee of around 1 Mio Euros, a bargain in my book. The new kit suits him pretty well too
I'm not sold on Lucio. Another old expensive Brazilian ? Just so Gilberto can move to central midfield, where he frankly sucked everytime he played there ? I'll pass, thank you. Mineiro wasn't exactly a success either, not to mention some earlier superstars presented by Dieter.
The Schorch-story is somewhat of a mystery. Noone knows what's going on. He's not with the squad in Austria, but officially he's member of the Hertha II squad anyway. No clue about his future.

1 mio euros? Sign him up! I'd like to have a mini-Essien then
Quite frankly, if you don't look good at that jersey, you might want to change your looks too

The latest on the Boateng brothers is that Tottenham have officially made an offer of €8M for Kevin-Prince but he prefers Sevilla who raised their offer to €5M.
They should somehow convince him to go to Tottenham and then take the money and run. :D
Jerome's transfer to Hamburg is expected to be completed before the end of the transfer window. Hoeness wants more than the one million Hamburg are willing to pay.

Tottenham wants to buy every decent, but not awesome midfielder on the planet
8 mio euros I would definitely take. I would also hold out for maybe a million more on Jerome, he can definitely be a good player for them though, Vincent Kompany and Boateng would be a good, if somewhat similar coupling in Center Defense or Boa can be RB.

According to the press.....

You won't if the player refuses to sign there..... ;)

I think it's hilarious how these clubs are after the Boateng brothers as if either one has ever done anything.
Hold out for a million more on Jerome? If I were HSV, I'd tell you to go take a flying leap and choke on him.
Please.

Hey guys.
I MAY (pretty tentative at the moment, but it has a good possibility) be living in Berlin during the Spring. Are BSC tickets hard to get and where is the stadium? I'll be living somewhere near the Sony Center, I think.

Hertha BSC tickets are only hard to get if they're playing Bayern, Schalke or someone who is near the top of the league. The stadium is in West Berlin, if you are living near the Sony Center, I think the U2 line goes through Potsdamer Platz (arg you are making me somewhat Berlin sick now :D ), take the direction toward Ruhleben, and 1 or 2 stops before that should be the Olympiastadion. You can also take the S-Bahn that runs through the middle of the city, there will always be Hertha BSC fans waiting for the S-bahn, so just follow them ;)
Ticket prices are good for fans, some of the cheapest in Europe. If you want to stand in the fankurve, it will be 14 euros, but you can sit for as low as 20 in the other sections IIRC.

We'll talk again in 2009. Think Per is a star ? You didn't meet Jerome then.

Thanks man. I'm not incredibly sure where I would be living, but I know that my office would be in the Hackesche Hofe in East Berlin. For some reason I was thinking Hertha was in the East but I'm not sure why. I've been to the Olympiastadion before I'm pretty sure. 14 isn't bad. Beer cheap?
A few years ago, I watched Aachen play Bremen on the screens at the Sony Center. What a great place for people who can't make it into the game. I had a great time there. It was a pity to see all the beer thrown away at the front gates.
I would ideally want to catch Bayern and Schalke play but I'll settle for what I can. I haven't been to a European match yet (still far too young for a yank) so I'm pretty excited if this does indeed go through.

Beer ain't really that cheap. 4 euros, plus a 50 euro cent deposit when you bring the "bucket" back :p I'd recommend getting beer at bars before the game. The best one is the "Hanne am Zoo" right next to the Zoologischer Garten S and U-Bahn station. Best football pub in all of Berlin IMHO.
If you're at Hackeshe Hopf, then the Hackesher Markt S-bahn station will be close, thats probably your best bet to get into the Olympiastadion.

It looks like it will happen, because Seydou Keita has signed for Sevilla, paving the way for Kevin-Prince to talk to Tottenham

Hertha BSC have signed Christopher Gaeng (http://transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/37976/christophergaeng/profil.html) or SVW Mannheim. The 19 year goalkeeper will replace Nico Pellatz as the #3.

doesn't seem like a lot to look forward to this year. What's everyones opinion

Theres a lot of uncertainty, yes, but if we can spend the Boateng money (if he goes, which is almost certain), then we can look forward. It also seems like Favre has a plan for this season at least, he knows which formation he is going to use and he is buying accordingly. Still a bit worried at CB position though. Also a lot depends on Fathi and Friedrich, Fathi needs to play better than last year (he can play better, even Joachim Loew can see that) and I think that Favre should let Friedrich know which position (RB or CB) he will play.

I hope Hertha's defensive problems can be resolved this summer. Drobny coming in is a start (Fiedler was only thrown into the fray because of Gabor "Sweatpants" Kiraly's astounding loss of form in 03/04). But I'm more concerned about central defense, namely, Josip Simunic -- the gangly, short-tempered klutz who's never served as a bedrock for Hertha's backline.

Saw Gaeng play in a friendly against Bayern right after the end of the season. He actually looked pretty good.

Saw that. I saw where Hertha agreed with Spurs. Did the player yet?
Sorry if it is old news, but I was otherwise occupied this past weekend.
