Yea its been rumored that Roma are interested in Friedrich. Wouldn't mind if he went for the right price, he is an important player and our captain, but I think we can survive without him (or at least with the money find a suitable replacement).
That'd be a good move for him. They're a pretty good team and it'd go back to the "traditions" of mid-age German NT players moving to Italy.

That "tradition" is long dead and isn't coming back anytime soon. I don't think anyone has done it successfully since Oliver Bierhoff and he went there before he made the German NT.
The German players who want to go abroad seem to want to play in England and Spain these days.
I thought Dieter Hoeness did a good job putting a stake through the heart of that rumor myself.......

Yeah, you're right. It probably won't come back, but if they are to move abroad (I'd rather they stayed in Germany), I'd love for it to be Italy.
They'll get injured in England (Ballack ;))

About friedrich to roma?

What for? It's just a more defensive style of the German game......

They get injured everywhere. (Metzelder) ;)

Yes. I sent the following message yesterday:
+++++++++++++++
In the kicker article below, Dieter Hoeness denies there has been any offers or questions from any club concerning Arne Friedrich.
He also insists there are no "out clauses" in Friedrich's contract.
Kicker.de: Keine Angebot für Friedrich (http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/376121/)

I dunno, maybe it's just because it's the weakest of the big 3 leagues and I like the idea of Serie A becoming strong again through German stars at their clubs. Just romanticism on my part ;)
Above all I just want them all to stay and keep German football strong. Ok, I don't have a problem with the older ones like Ballack and Friedrich leaving, but the rest I'd prefer they stayed till they're that age.

Metzelder....he's a special case ;)
Players IMO are more likely to face the kind of tackle Ballack got from Bramble in England than anywhere else we're talking about.

Thought so. But I can also see Arne Friedrich staying in Berlin or going somewhere like Schalke or Dortmund, where he'd be allowed to play central defense.
Especially as there has been no offer from Roma. That's the part you seem to be ignoring here. According to Dieter Hoeness, the rumor is false. I think he would know if it were different.

I think some of them, such as Podolski, should go abroad earlier. I still think Robert Huth did the right thing, but he needs to come back here to refine his game.

Oh, and Ballack never was injured frequently before he went to England? Please man.

England is a rougher game, yes, but it's not like guys go off with broken legs every week. Tomas Rosicky sure as hell spent more time injured in his first two seasons at BVB than he has at Arsenal........
And we should move this conversation. It's getting away from Friedrich.

Yeah, provided an Italian club comes in for Friedrich eventually. Or Dortmund will be more than fine!

I think "pig" more than his mate podolski should leave bayern for abroad. There are a small number of young internationals like this who'd be better off moving abroad right now.
Anyway, off topic.

Here is that Hoeness denial at Goal.com. Friedrich's agent denies it too.

Hertha will exercise its option on Malik Fathi, which means he gets another year to prove himself.
Was a pretty short year ;). Fathi to Spartak Moscow, with immediate effect.

I guess the offer was pretty good, still kinda looks as if they have given up this year already.

Transfermarkt said 4 million euros for him. Very good deal if you ask me, plus we're getting Marc Stein in exchange for him next season for free! With the new 3-4-2-1 formation we're using I think this made Fathi a bit more expendable, it looks like von Bergen will start from now on, and he's pretty good too. Hope this 4 million goes into the "holtet den Serb," but knowing these guys, guess not.
Heard Mateja Kezman is linked with us  Nein danke!

Agree. The Russians must be crazy...
Last season, we paid € 4 million for the playmaker of the Argentinian champion Boca Juniors.

Actually, I kinda think that Fathi is worth 4 million in the open market, or at least just under it. Its still good value but he's still young and got potential to improve. Good luck to him.
