I hate Berlin newspapers calling him the "Schweizer Ronaldinho." I just hope he can be a very good scorer for us. He'll soon realize (like he did against Leverkusen this year) that the German league is no Swiss League.

Hertha are training Swedish Right back Bobbie Friberg da Cruz (nice name :D ) from GAIS Goteberg. Karlsruhe are also interested, as he has stated that he wants out of Goteberg and wants to move to Germany. He's at Tenerife along with Arguez and 19 year old Serbian Ljubomir Fejsa.

Looks like Fejsa, the 19 year old Serbian who has already been capped by the full Serbian National Team, is going to come, as contract negotiations have nearly ended. Must be good if he's 19 and he's already been capped by Serbia, might be good that Pantelic is there as well.

how about Simunic possibly going to(I believe)Portsmouth. If it's true and Hertha can get the 8 or 9 million for him I think that would be great. We need the money and our defense isn't as good as it was a couple of years ago anyway.
Hope Panti is getting quality help and will no longer have to be the lone striker

Today's friendly vs Grasshoppers Zurich confirms my opinion, that it is the central midfield that is lacking. It does not matter how many millions you spend on your limbs, as long as your team's heart does not beat.

Any news on how Arguez is doing?

I've heard of the possibility of putting Raffael in the "Marcelinho role" (he is #10 after all ;) )

Outstanding performance in today's friendly vs Rapid Vienna. Best player on the pitch imo. His vision, physical strength and positioning were excellent. If he can perform on this level consistently, I'd start him ahead of Dardai, Mineiro and Gilberto in the centre anyday.

PS: Raffael played as a striker and did have a couple decent touches including a goal, wrongly labelled offside. Arguez played way better though.

Still doubt he will be signed by Hoeness though. How did Friberg da Cruz do?

Looking good on that front (http://www.berlinonline.de/berliner-kurier/print/sport/203325.html). If Arguez can perform consistently on the level he did yesterday, this kid is just the player to stabilize Hertha's midfield and thereby lift the whole team's performance by several levels.

How did Friberg da Cruz do?

He played first half as a centre back, second half as right full back. Didn't impress me in either position. Don't get me wrong, he didn't play bad and worked hard. There just was nothing to make me go "Wow, I want this guy" though. Considering he's already 25 there probably isn't much room for improvement. Judging by this match only, I wouldn't sign him. My dream would have been Daniel Opare of Ashanti Gold, but appearantly he's signed for Real Madrid already

Reports sound pretty positive. Hopefully MLS won't make a stupid price for him, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Well Hertha got its 25 million euros...http://transfermarkt.de/de/news/18602/16012008_1545/news/anzeigen.html

We better hope we win some trophies or at least get into the Champions LEague group stages a few times in the next decade....

Looks like Fejsa and Arguez are going to sign. Friberg da Cruz I have no idea.

The Berliner Morgenpost has a tidbit on Arguez that will appear in tomorrow's pages.

http://www.morgenpost.de/content/20 0...rt/941979.html (http://www.morgenpost.de/content/2008/01/17/sport/941979.html)

Brief synopsis:

Arguez says that he had a quick conversation with Hoeness, in which case he says that Hertha have bought him.
During the test match against TuS Koblenz, he will be offered a contract.
Arguez wants a two-three year contract.
The money does not matter to him, he states that all he wants to do is to improve as a footballer.
He says it is his dream to be part of the Bundesliga.
Arguez will fly back to America for a few days to get some belongings and then fly back to die Hauptstadt in a few days time.
Favre and Hoeness were both impressed with him. When asked if he was for the amateurs, Favre replied to the tune of he will spend time with both the first and amateur team, which plays in the German 4th division (Oberliga).

In some potentially bad news, Marko Pantelic's agent has confirmed that Pantelic has received some offers from West Ham and Fulham. Pantelic is demanding more money from Hertha. I think he deserves it to be honest, I hope we can tie him down for a couple more years as well...

i don't think london can match berlin as far as the balkan pop-folk music scene goes, that would make it difficult for him.
