Sky Sports reports today that West Ham have offered 8 1/2 million pounds for Scott Parker, Newcastle captain.I don't think he's worth it, and I'm not sure that he adds much to the team. I suppose he would replace Reo-Coker if he goes?
Any comments?

Its not IF anymore, just can't see anyway Reo-cokehead can stay now. I think Parker would be a more than adequate replacement for Reo. 8.5 mil is a few million quid too much, hopefully the real price is around 6 mil. Papers tend to always exagerate transfer prices and salaries.

Forget how much he will cost. The question is: is he better than NRC? If he costs us the same as we get, or a little bit more, then yes he is.:p

Spot on Tony. He may not be much better than NRC but is experienced, only 26 and will want to play for the club.

SSN usually don't report these things until they are sure there is something in it, unless of course they are quoting the papers.
I think the fee will be close to £8.5m but, whilst this is too high for Parker, he may prove to be worth it. He has been no better than OK for Newcastle but was far better for Charlton. No point mentioning his spell at Chelsea, that doesn't count!!;)
He's a holding midfielder who can get goals, in the mould of Carrick I think.
A holding midfielder who can finish and can head the ball??? At West Ham??? Whatever next?

I see that we're close to sealing Parker for £7m according to BBC - however late interest from Spurms has accelerated our keenness to get him ASAP. Why oh why do they always turn up to try and scupper our plans?
I didn't think it was possible to dislike them any more than I do, but they are certainly raising the threshold!

Seems like we are in pole position though:

I heard SSN mention the £7m figure during lunchtime. It would be a fairly good deal if we could seal it for that price.

From what I've seen he and Noble are very similar players.

Noble tends to be involved in the attack a bit more than Parker. Parker does get goals but by trade is a defensive midfielder.

Since he's been at Newcastle he's been a holding midfielder but back in his Charlton days he was box-to-box.

Holding midfielder will do me,we desperately needed one during the last season.
Probably lost more games because of it.

if you ask me that not that he worth it. no player in the world worth the biggest cash runnig in the market in the last years. even if he score 100 goals in a season.
