Well, Westermann & Neuer gifted David Villa the winner...

You had a good start into the game and could have scored twice ... but after 20 minutes you lost the game control and played really poorly.

I actually can't decide if Valencia's goal was a mistake by Neuer or if Villa took the ball when Neuer already had it in both his hands, which would've been a foul. Even on the replays i can't decide which one it was. But it looked like a Neuer error.

Either way, this seriously damages Schalke's campaign. Bremen may have lost yesterday, but that was away to Real Madrid in the one match where they could fully expect to lose, but they still made it close. Schalke on the other hand played at home against the side most liekly to be their main challenger for 2nd place. It was a game they could not afford to lose. And they blew it and lost. May sound silly to say this after just one game, but i already believe Schalke's chances of making the last 16 have halved now. I saw this as their most crucial match in the group, and they didn't step up to the task.

Neuer didn't mishandle the ball and Villa didn't foul.

However Neuer definitely misread the through-ball to Villa and was left stretching for a ball he should have easily gathered (my site below has the goal if anyone can stomach it at this point). Once he was in full stretch, Villa's momentum carried him to the ball and forced it away from Neuer.

It's a bitter morning.

It was a fupped game and we where not up to it...Valencia outmaneuvred us and that´s why they won...
But given our history of always losing the first game in CL I was not to optimistic anyway.

Hopefully Biefeld will pay for this!

3-0 against Biefeld was very ok...We could have scored at least three more but we don´t make things easy for us.

And we follow that up with an away* win in Duisburg...(2-0) :)

Seven games...We are still unbeaten in the Bundesliga!

* Away is not really a concept in Rührpott...:D

SIEG!....:D

Not one of our best efforts but we won and dominated most of the game despite taking the foot of the gas when we took the lead.

What a week!
3 games
9 points
6 goals scored
0 goals for the opposition...

Yea good win. Would be interesting to see how the game got on with van Bergen not taking that challenge, but I agree you should have won.

To be honest I had a bet on 0-0...I sort of reckoned that after the Hansa disaster Hertha would rather destroy the game than loose again.

The pen was a kind of force majeure, not that my bookie will accept that..

Du hast Recht. Ich habe 4:1 erwartet. :)

Fuer Schalke/Dortmund sagte ich ein Remis vorher....aber ich hab den Heimvorteil vergessen...

Man kann nicht an alles denken -:)

Tonight, a penalty kick save us from the pain.

And tomorrow a penalty kick will let D.... lose.
Let 'em lose.

What a good weekend, Kansas will reach the playoffs - they will - Schalke had won and I hope
all hometeams will win.

And that with the red card to me, better than a yellow one.

Sincerely PileD.

******** the Bucks.

Schalke forever.
