It´s been one of the most drawn out transfers in our history..IF Fenerbahce and Schalke agrees that is, a very large if...Fener doesn´t need the money but Appiah is looking for a new challenge apparently.

We really need a DM of inter´l class, like Appiah...

There you go, english^^

I'm confused, I thought they only lacked few details to sign him and now it looks like he's staying. What happened to all "I want to go to Schalke thing"? Did he ever say that, or is it just the media talking BS again?

Well, he said it on TV so he said it alright.

It might be that Fener have given him a substantial payrise as well..

Well, a matchrapport while we drown our sorrows...

Defensive mix-up decides League Cup final

In a League Cup final dominated by the defences a solitary incident decided the destination of the trophy. Following a 29th minute misunderstanding in the Schalke defence, Miroslav Klose pounced to score the only goal of the game for Bayern Munich. The 45,000 spectators at the Central Stadium in Leipzig otherwise saw a game that was evenly balanced for long periods.
Schalke coach Mirko Slomka made two changes to the side that beat Nürnberg 4-2 in the semi-final, Rafinha returning at right-back in place of Sebastian Boenisch and Halil Altintop replacing Gerald Asamoah in a three-man attack.
Two dangerous set pieces and a goal out of nothing: the story of the first half is short in the telling. The two teams cancelled each other out in midfield and there were no good chances from open play. In fact, the only threat on goal was posed by two free-kicks from Ivan Rakitic (16') and Ze Roberto (22').
So the opening goal came out of the blue, but not only for these reasons. When the ball was played long from the Bayern midfield, Miroslav Klose took advantage of a misunderstanding between Manuel Neuer and Mladen Krstajic to score from just inside the box. Apart from that, while both sides were showing good ideas in midfield, neither defence was about to be caught unawares. This was partly down to the fact that Bayern fielded just one striker in Klose and packed the midfield with five players.
Only gradually were the Royal Blues able to find a way to break down Bayern's defensive set-up. After two chances for Bayern through Lell and Hamit Altintop, Schalke suddenly stepped up the pace. Finally they began to move the ball quickly through midfield, and both Halil Altintop and Kevin Kuranyi had opportunities to level the scores. But then Bayern nearly settled it, Hamit Altintop lobbing the ball against the crossbar following a break involving Klose.
Thereafter the game lost its fluency again. The Royal Blues lacked pace, and an 80th set piece failed to bring the desired result, Krstajic heading Azaouagh's corner just wide of Oliver Kahn's goal. With a minute left Neuer prevented Altintop from adding a second for Bayern, but on balance it would not have been deserved.

FC Schalke 04: Neuer - Rafinha (Westermann 75'), Bordon, Krstajic, Pander - Ernst, Kobiashvili - Rakitic (Azaouagh 66') - Altintop, Kuranyi, Lövenkrands (Asamoah 58')
Bayern Munich:
Kahn - Lahm, Lucio, Demichelis, Jansen - Lell (Dos Santos 75'), Ze Roberto, Ottl, Sosa - Altintop - Klose (Wagner 90')
Goal: 0-1 Klose (29')
Attendance: 45,000
Referee: Florian Meyer (Burgdorf)
Yellow cards: Krstajic, Altintop, Kobiashvili, Asamoah - Lucio, Ze Roberto

Rather dull affair on Saturday. Kinda glad that business is over with and nobody got injured so we can focus on August 10. I am also wondering if there is enough of an offensive spark to this team to make it out of the CL group stage. I am going to try to get to one of the matches...the excitement will make the pain in the butt of getting out of that crowd at 23:00 on a weeknight worthwhile.

I had a feeling that something like this was going to happen soon..Things have been hotting up lately.

It´s the return of the 80´s for some fans, like that BvB youth game in Bochum.
