Just like many other South American teams, River usually plays several friendly matches, if not tournaments, during Summer and Winter breaks. Therefore, I decided to start a thread based on that subject.

To start off, the teams and groups for the 2007 Peace Cup have been confirmed. 4 European teams, 2 Asian Teams, and 2 American teams will participate. River will be in Group B and will have to face Shizmu S-Pulse of Japan, Olympique Lyon of France, and Reading FC of England. The two groups will look as follows:

Group A
Bolton Wanderers(England)
Chivas Guadalajara (Mexico)
Seongnam (Korea)
Udinese (Italy)

Group B
Olympique Lyon (France)
Reading FC(England)
River Plate (Argentina)
Shimizu S-Pulse (Japan)

The winner of each group will face each other for the final match of the tournament. For more info, click here (http://r-i-v-e-r.blogspot.com/search/label/Friendly%20Matches).

Don't worry.. The only reason he said that was because all the Bosteros on BS claim that he's a River fan, so he's trying to prove that he's not. Either way, we all know that deep inside he loves us. :D

Then again, you should be thanking River management for letting players like "La Gata", "Malevo", and Tula move on.:p

Yea but within those 18 years you guys didn't do much to pass or catch up to us.

I wouldn't talk because even Argentino Juniors has been to Japan. ;)

River defeated Shimizu S Pulse 1-0 with another goal from Abelairas. I think it's safe to say this kid has earned Zapata's old position. Hell, he should've been playing there last year and in this past Clausura. Then again, if he keeps playing like the way he's playing, Aguiliar and company will probably sell him before the start of the Apertura.

It's good to have news about Tuzzio, whom Marseille is missing, and to see that he's still so secure with the ball. :p

Allright, who invited the Frenchy in here?? Look, it's a pre-season tournament. Who cares if he made a mistake in a pre-season tournament game. As long he didn't suffer any catastrophic injury, then so be it. Tuzzio isn't even the weak link in the back four. It's Gerlo who should've taken that offer from Olympiakos when he had the chance.

I like Tuzzio, he's a monster playing on one leg whenever he's asked and he has been our most solid defender recently (not saying much there) but recently it seems that when he screws up, he screws up big time!! and it is it me or it is also happening more often? I think that sadly Tuzzio's better days are behind him.

The team will be doing their Pre-Season up north in Canada this year. The scheduled friendlies for now are:

July 22nd - vs. Toronto FC (CAN)
July 25th - vs. Everton (ENG)
July 29th - vs. Montreal FC (CAN)

River will then fly back south to Bogota, Colombia for the following game:

August 6th - vs. Millonarios (COL)

Two matches were expected to be played vs. Juventus as well, yet the confirmation never arrived. There is still a possibility of the matches being played, but the chances of playing the Italian side decrease as newer rivals are being added.

Updates to be posted soon.

Thanks for all your updates River, I'm too lazy to do check ups on fan sites and official sites or youtube. You put all this information in one place. I want to thank you for that. You don't get the praise you deserve for all the hard work you do. It's a tiresome hobby doing this, but since your a deep fan, I guess it's just part of the fun.
