I read an interview after the UEFA loss and Benitez mentioned that with the new owners of Liverpool they are looking to sign top class players to give them the needed edge to start contending for the league titles again and taking 1st in Europe.

What struck me was the mention of attempting to resign Michael Owen, is this true or just a rumor? When does his New Castle contract finish?! Anyone know?

Owen said he wouldnt come back to liverpool and opted for Newcastle years ago. I think Benitez has realised a striker is priority and a winger is another must. As successful as he is he has bought some average players (Nunez, Krompkamp, Paletta, Josemi, Gonzalez, Zenden etc.) and has realised he needs to add some quality players to get results. I think he'll once again try and replace some defenders i.e. the likes of Finnan.

I think Liverpools defense is decent enough as it is. The midfield is also up to par. Wingers and strikers definitely do need looking into. I believe Zenden is going to be sold? Not sure on that one either.

I read this article and I can't find it anymore :(

I think alot of his targets are in La Liga. So we may not hear much about Liverpool signings until the Spanish season finally ends.
