Buenos Aires has more teams but London has probably the second most. I agree with your point though.;)it depends of what you mean by "teams" - i.e. all clubs including amateur, or just professional teams (and then by professional, do you mean full-time professional, or does semi-pro count?)

There's also the other question of how to judge city boundaries.

Anyone actually able to quantify it exactly, so both are being measured in equal ways, probably has too much time on their hands.

Ive read anywhere between 24 to 30 professional teams exist in the actual city of Buenos Aires with 8 playing in the top flight

League> Europe

Unfortunatly in recent times Europe has lost alot of its Prestige shall we say with Teams finishing 3rd and 4th in the Leagues being granted access, The European Cup atr the Minute is alas just an Overated Bauble and will continue to be so Untill Uefa revert it back to the stage it was with the top 2 teams in each league going through

Liverpool 2005 - Ridiculous and a poor reflection on European Football, How can a team who had finished 5th in their League even be remotly Counted as the Best team in Europe , This year Same applied to Milan and Liverpool again allthough only because Milan were dedeucted points (Justice prevailed as Milan were undoubtedly the Best team in Europe thier Mauling of United in the San Siro Proved that)

American Fans will probably say That The European CUp is Greater thasn the League which is rubbish - 'Europe seen as Bigger thus more important', Sums up the Yanks .

The League will always be the Top Priority. Finish Top of your own pile first and foremost . The League is won on wet wednesday nights at Ewood Not Being tactically negative and hope to beat chelsea/Rest of Europe on Penatlys

I thought it was very sneaky the way they cunningly cheated in full view of the referee, allowing him to see exactly what they were doing and - the bastards - giving the referee the option of disallowing the goal if he thought there was anything wrong with it.

Henry does it and its Magical Thierry with great Initative Ryan Does it and were Sneaky ********ers, Bull shit , Problem in that game was Lille's reaction typical french whining ********** . Grow up

Its not an American thing. It seems England is the only country that feels the league is bigger than Europe. Its seems supporters from Spain and Italy want to win the Champions League and in South America the big teams and their supporters talk about how the Copa Libertadores is their main goal for the season.

Its an Ideological difference , Most of the Shankly Cnuts will agree that the League is far mroe important than European cup exacerbated by the fact they havent won it in 17 years.

Only team i would imagine want the Champions League more than league is the Rent-Boys , understanable seeing as they've no Class and just want any trophy they can get their filthy hands on

As an American, I would like to know one thing about English football. For an English club, what is the ranking order of most desirable to win in any season and why: the FA Cup, the Premiership, the Carling Cup, and the Champions League?

Premiership
CL
FA Cup
Carling Cup

The Premiership is the bread and butter, and proves who's the best. I think the majority of fans in England would prefer to win the prem than the European cup. Personally i'm not that bothered about the CL, as I don't consider myself european.

Also to do with the fact that the English league has better TV deals, and is of a higher standard and more glamorous, and has better stadiums, training facilities etc.

I just did a little wee in my pants from laughing so hard at this.

A BOLTON fan using the word 'glamorous'? Pahhahahahaaa. Try the EPL has the big fat unethically earned bucks to tempt past-it players from mainland Europe meaning they can retire a season or two earlier.

The European championship was probably more valuable to win before UEFA decided to let non-champion clubs in and change it to the Champions League. Now, since a club like Liverpool can win Europe and not even win their league, I can see how winning the Premiership is more valuable.

Prem
CL
FA Cup
Carling Cup

But I bet a smaller English club like Wrexham or QPR would move the FA Cup up that list...

Wrexham is actually a Welsh club  They do play in the English League system though. ;)

On the other hand there have also been European champions who were nowhere near good enough to win their home leagues (e.g. Liverpool '05, Aston Villa '82).

villa won their home league in 80-81, thats how they got in the european cup in 81-82.

They were awful domestically in 81/82 and would not have qualified for Europe that year without winning the European Cup - I think that form in the year they won the competition is what is being referred to.. I'm pretty sure that they hold the record for the lowest league finish while winning the European Cup.
