This has to be the best 24 hrs in a while. Here is why:
1) First, the conmemoration of the "Paternity Day" yesterday ... a homage to Palermo's 3rd goal in the Libertadores 4ters, 2nd leg of 2000 against River. For those not familiar with this, Palermo made his return, after 6 months injured with cruxiate ligaments damage, for a few minutes at the end of the game. And scored the 3rd despite playing on "one leg". Nothing more humillating for the gallinas. If someone has a link to the goal or has a Youtube link, please post it in this thread. I surely have it but have to dig for it in my archives.
2) Last nite, a return to that Libertadores Cup spirit that saw Boca reach 4 Libertadores finals, and win 3, and 3 Intercontinental finals, and win 2, between 2000 and 2004. Not to add the 2 Sudamericanas of '04 and '05. A solid performance that left no doubts of the superiority over 180 minutes. The delight of watching Juan Roman Riquelme dribble and score despite being injured ... showing all those losers that criticize him, that he's got the BIGGEST balls when it comes to playing with heart and for the shirt he loves.
3) Passarella has just confirmed he is staying at River, at least until this December. This has to be VERY GOOD news for all Boca fans around the globe.
Under Passarella, River has played 6 tournaments, 3 local and 3 international, and has failed in ALL attempts to challenge any of those titles. Sigan participando.
Has bought players that get exhibit at River, yet the owners are private 3rd parties ... minimum cash inflow into River and postponment of their youth systems. Players with no heart that are a profitable business for his wealthy fishing mates and some player agents.
After failing miserably last semester, prepared their team to win the Summer tournament, and burn down with injuries, due to absurd physical preparation during pre-season, midway into the season. He couldn't handle the opposition he received last December. And prepared his team to quickly revert the tide ... win the meaningless summer tournament and add to the short term illusion of the signings. Thinking of his job and his "investments" more than in his club.
Passarella is indeed helping Boca gather more fans, as their fans have forced vacations at least a month prior to the end of the tournaments ... after watching Boca twice a week, for sooo long, I'm sure many of those fans are wearing the blue an yellow for good. It is said that some of those gallinas were fans because River used to play attractive football. Bingo!
All bad at River is good at Boca, it is indeed the rule of inverse rewards. So props to Passarella for staying, we all know he was a Boca fan since birth. We can only hope he holds into power until the end of his contract in December 2009. I would offer to organize a Telethlon to pay for his wages. With another 100% increase if necessary to see him stay even longer.
