PHP is charging families $5 for youth tournament parking this weekend. If you plan to eat or leave betweeen games you will pay between $15 and $25 depending on the successful of your kiddos team. Furthermore, they are working with the City of Frisco to ticket anyone who parks at the business parking lots across the street.
This is not the way to win this type of crowd over. Bad, bad idea.
Now, if they provided a $5 coupon per parking pass sold, then at least it would make some sense. But, this can only serve to alienate the very people that they are attempting to reach.

Last weekend we paid $5 for the day or $10 for the weekend. We went in and out of the lots - no problem. Why is it different this weekend?

Because parking fees for youth tournaments have never been done in this area other than PHP. Even at facilities with comparable fields, no such fee. And, the threat of a ticket for parking elsewhere goes over the limit. It just seems petty and punative. That is not the way you win customers over.
What's next? A ban on kids bringing their own water? I can see them dumping out kids water bottles and forcing them to buy $5 waters. What's the difference? Why not charge 5$ to use the urinal and 10$ to use the potty? And, if you tinkle on the grass, you will be ticketed.

Why not?
If the youth teams want to deal with that, and make their parents do that, great. The market will respond.
Perhaps these parents will figure out that paying huge sums to mediocre coaches in leagues that aren't good for overall development of most kids might not be such a great idea.
