Hey, sorry texgator, maybe this will be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

PM me if you have any thoughts and then this thread can quietly fade away.

I am about to buy a Honda Fit. Since the car is a good seller right now, I am going to have to pay MSRP. Anyone have any particular problem with any Honda dealerships in the Dallas area. I am in the Rusty Wallis and Lute Riley area. I am going to get the same deal anywhere, I just wanted to know if anyone of these has especially good or bad service departments, etc.

You should never pay MSRP for a car. There is always someone that will give you a better deal. Honestly you should never pay more than $300 over invoice for any Honda, they aren't rare.

100% Agreed ... Also, stay away from Honda of McKinney at all costs ... Best of luck.

I've never paid MSRP but I have also never bought a car where I will have to wait for it. Right now there is one that I like in Ft. Worth but no one else has the one I want. So I am not really used to this situation, and I am kind of buying the consumer reports price report that says "dealers of cars in high demand may not be willing to come off the MSRP."

I bought from Lute Riley and have had no problems with them from either a sales or service perspective. I don't use them for service anymore since I live too far away, but I did in the first few months after purchase and they were pretty good.

Go to www.edmunds.com and search the Honda forums to see what people are actually paying for that model of car across the country. That should help yo figure out if you really will have to pay MSRP. There certainly are overly popular models where the demand curve forces the price to the sticker...but I don't know if this is the case for your model.

Thanks tex, I owe you.

From the forums it looks like people are paying MSRP to about 500-1000 above MSRP on the west coast for some reason.

I found one person so far who paid under.

I found one person so far who paid under. The internet rules. Knowing exactly how much you should expect to pay before stepping into the dealership is incredibly empowering and takes all the stress out of negotiations, IMO.

I have heard the exact opposite review from many Honda owners.

No. I got my daughter going to Baylor a 4Runner :o

(I kept on telling her: Honda Civic, Honda Civic, Honda Civic

and she said: Lexus, Lexus, Lexus

so we ended up splitting the difference)

There haven't been any Hondas that have been selling for over MSRP since the early days of the S2000, when the company purposely reduced initial supply to drive up initial demand. That's not the case for this model, or any Honda model, anymore.

And I would take the advice of an Asian on a Honda any day. That's all they drive where I live.

in Japan, Hondas are more the young, hip car. the more popular brands are definitely Mitsubishi, Suzuki and Toyota. right now I'm driving a Mitsubishi Minica, but I do happen to drive a Honda in America (I'm not asian, fwiw). wonder how it's doing...

Well, that's pretty much not at all what I am hearing or reading in most parts of the US, although I am a bit below (less than 300 below MSRP right now.)

And pretty much reducing the initial supply is exactly what I have read they are doing with this model.

I am all for paying a lower price, so I am not just trying to talk myself into buying the car. I found it interesting that three dealers I was talking to, when I told them I was going to just get back to them after memorial day, they just said, sure.

BTW, here it is. Just a little bug.

I like the little cars like that (but I am a little guy too). But, may I suggest my personal favorite...

If the bonus had come in last year that may have been the way I was headed....
