I encountered a few HSV fans in Berlin this past Saturday. They were there to support BVB in the German Cup Final. It seems our old friendship is not totally dead. At least not as far as they and their friends are concerned.

I just wanted to convey that we appreciate the support we got from HSV fans. :)

Yea, its Olic's low streak right now. When he is in bad form, he is in BAD form. It seems like whenever I pay attention to him, he's in bad form.

Maybe I should stop watching HSV matches :D

Common, he's not all that bad. He is good at making the right runs. I would say he more of a striker which is suitable for counter attacks.
Nevertheless, I think Stevens should give Zidan more opportunities.

I've always liked BVB.

i really appreciate the effort he puts in, which is enormous, but olić is a comedy of a player .

i love it when tries to do some step-over moves. that only ends in two ways , he either trips over the ball or runs into the defender.

i really laughed when reading some of the comments on hsv's forum when he just arrived. they were expecting a technically strong and skilled player.

Boh ! war der schlecht !!!! was the most common comment after his first games

Just as I've always liked HSV. We have a rivalry, but it's a pretty friendly one. :)

Well, he is back to his old form again. ;)

Actually, it works most of the time. At least while I'm watching ;)
It may not look pretty, but he's more effective then most guys who try that trick.

Now, I'm not on all that many HSV-boards, but I can't remember all that many negative comments about Olic's start. It was getting more negative after a few games, but then he started to play well again. The first comments were along the line of "dude, does this guy ever stop running?". That was followed by "can he do anything else?" and then "hey, he can score, why didn't he do that earlier". ;)

Not that one should take comments from most HSV-fans on the internet seriously. Many feel the need to sell the best players, especially those who make the team run well, only to buy flashy guys who get nothing done.

When Jarolim was carrying the play - he formed an aweseome double-six with de Jong - some people thought that it would be a great idea to replace him with Kompany. That never worked, but hey, it's still better than letting something good continue.
Same with Trochowski. There was a prolonged period of time where he was by far the best player, not to mention he led the team in assists, yet some people were ready to sell him for next to nothing. Luckily, the management and coach aren't inept enough to ever think about such a move.

When Guerrero had one of his hotstreaks and scored two or three goals, some were ready to let Olic go. Great idea, lets sell the only offensive player who moves. No need to have fighters like Jarolim or Olic on the field, when you can have 11 guys who stand around and do nothing...

That keeper Wiese should have really been sent off.

Looks like Jol will be coming.

This whole search for a coach has become some kind of identity search...the club bosses felt their club was "too good" for someone like Klopp or Rutten, while guys like Houllier and Bilic were not really attracted by Hamburg.

No, the club bosses definately didn't feel like the club was too good for Rutten or Klopp, else the names wouldn't have popped up. Apparently there was a disagreement between Hoffmann (chairman) and Beiersdorfer (manager). Hoffmann wanted Klopp, Beiersdorfer Rutten, or so we where told. Neither wanted to give in, so in the end, they had to take someone completely different.

Jol is fine by me. Rutten would have worked as well. I'm really glad that it's not Klopp, Labbadia or Bilic.

hey guys,

how has Paolo Guerrero played in this season that's about to finish for Hamburg? He has said that he thinks he did allright, but felt he could have done better for the team. How do you guys rate him?

Reports say that Wigan is to try to get Guerrero for 6 Million Euros.

I agree with the media on this one. Jol might have been fourth choice, but he's probably actually the best man for the job.

Congratulations on getting your man!

That's what, on the whole, I interpreted as feeling too good for Rutten or Klopp. If Hoffmann and Beiersdorfer had agreed that both are in principle "HSV level" although they had different preferences, there should have been an agreement. As far as I'm concerned, they could have rolled a dice. Only if someone had genuine reservations it really makes sense that they had to look elsewhere.

Anyway, good luck Martin Jol.

I also think Martin Jol is most suited for this post. I guess there would have been much competition for the other coaches.

Right, so apparently we can score goals.

Uefa Cup here we come.

Do we have some money to spend? Do we have targets? I read something about 10m Euros somewhere and KP Boateng perhaps going to join his brother (rumour unrelated to this sum!!!). That amount should allow us to roughly maintain our level for now except against Werder and Wolfsburg who seem willing to spend bigger.

KSC simply didn't show up.

And well deserved judging by the entire season's body of work. Congrats!

I wouldn't waste a f#cking dime on K-P Boateng. Not until his ego shrinks some.

Good luck in the transfer market!
