Hi there,

I've been without a club for quite a while (in fact, without access to Bundesliga football), but being originally from the area I've noticed Hamburg is the one club for which I desire success completely independent of any of the people currently or previously involved.

Just wanted to state this affiliation *before* trophies start ticking in.

Now this is a story: FC Basel's coach Christian Gross is in "informal" talks with HSV. Now that would be a great replacement for Huub Stevens.

http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/news/19045/08022008_1522/news/anzeigen.html

It also names the further candidates:
Fred Rutten Twente Enschede
Jürgen Klopp FSV Mainz 05
Bruno Labbadia SpVgg Greuther Fürth

Personally, my favourite choice from the three above would be Fred Rutten, I'll presume he can communicate in both German, Dutch and English to the players. But Jürgen Klopp would also be a great choice.

I hope Klopp gets the job, he's qualified and his popularity carries considerable added value.

I don't really think speaking Dutch is an asset, the Dutch are very good at German and English.

Gross is out, he had informal talks, but alreadey said that he won't leave Basel until after his contract runs out.

Looks like van der Vaart was subbed out against Zurich after just a half hour. Any word on the extend of the injury or exactly what happened?

The injury isn't supposed to be really serious.

Congrats on the impressive away win!

Glückwunsch zum Erreichen der nächsten Runde!

I suppose that you saved some power for next Sunday in Munich with this 0:0...;)

Not a fantastic result but it puts them through. Hopefully van der Vaart will be good for the match this weekend.

A win was possible, but a draw is alright. Good team effort!

Indeed, I think one can be pretty satisfied with the performances away against the rivals. Still we really should won that damn game against hannover 96, that would put 2nd.

One of the shots certainly did that to Lucio during the match! LOL!!

Great battle! From what I saw on Premiere, the Bayern goal shouldn't have counted due to a lineman's mistake, but they had what should have been a good goal disallowed, so I guess it balanced out, though I thought the referee was whistling for them until right near the end.

Well, nobody seems to care about the 1/4 final Cup defeat in Wolfsburg today...

Well, nobody seems to care about the 1/4 final Cup defeat in Wolfsburg today...

In the regular playtime Hamburg was the more active team and had more
and far better chances. An away win would have been deserved.

In the extra-time Wolfsburg did more for the match
and deserved their win, while Hamburg looked very tired.
But this is no wonder, they are the German team with the
most played matches so far. Furthermore they had a
tough match in Munich last weekend.

Never mind about the result, but that goal vdV scored against Wolfsburg is material for "Tor des Monats"!

I think HSV really needs to sacrifice DFB for UEFA and the League.

I thought that is exactly what Stevens was doing when he subbed vdV out......
