Obviously :p

Where did I say they will get more then 22 Mio next year?

I didn't say you said anything. That was MY estimation. I am entitled to give my opinion and not just respond to yours, aren't I?

I say they will get more then 14 Mio and since Valencia won't bid more for various reasons HSV must wait for next season. After today's vdV pictures it should be clear to anybody how Valencia wants to work out this situation. Valencia will in no case raise their initial offer, they set all their hopes and money in vdV breaking himself out of his contract via his behaviour.

I don't think Valencia had him pose with the shirt. I think van der Vaart is trying to provoke HSV into a sale on his own there. Valencia won't stop him.

to sum up my position:

The HSV has the duty for its own sake not to cave in and try to get the maximum out of him next year.

HSV's "duty" is to do what is best for the entire TEAM in the long run. We just disagree on what that is.....

First, because the club is bigger than any player,

EXACTLY!! The club is bigger than any player! Then why do some of you act like the club can't go on without van der Vaart?!

Would it be better for HSV if he WANTED to stay?! SURE! But FORCING him to stay is just going to make him a cancer within the team!

Watch man! Keeping him can be a lot more dangerous than selling him!

therefore a player has not to expect "reward" (i.e in getting sold) in not honoring the club's circumstances (season already started with vdV being an integral part of their team) and the paper he has signed and he showed his commitment with (plus a clear exit clause next year).

The paper he signed showed he was willing at the time, to make sure HSV gets a good price for him when he leaves. Just as I said in my last response to "LebenslangGruenWeiss."

And that exit clause is going to hurt them next season more than you think....

Second, HSV negotiation position is fully undermined at the moment due to vdV behaviour and his stance of going only to Valencia. No time and no potential white knight as HSV savior, therefore HSV needs to block this dictated strategy for a better situation next year.

Block that strategy at what cost? I guess you just will not believe that keeping vdV could be more harmful than selling him.

Third, benching or putting vdV for the whole season on the stand will prevent team morale drops and is lowering injury risks and therefore mimimizing price risks. As a consequence vdV will go anywhere just for leaving HSV and saving his career and image

I see what you are thinking. I really do. But dude, do you really think it's that simple? My argument is that team morale will drop with him simply being there! A player who could help them forced to sit in the stands because he doesn't want to be there?!

How do you think they are going to feel with a team captain forced to be there against his will? How is that going to help this team?

Forth, Ajax will still get some amount of the transfer fee from Hamburg, which puts even more emphasize on reason 1, 2 and 3.

So what? What is that against the morale of this team this season?

The only thing that should eb able to break this strategy is a significantly raised offer by Valencia, a second offer in the range of 18-20 Mio

I think they will go 16-18 if HSV just stops bitching and moaning and just negotiates with them. I think that will stop all the drama from van der Vaart.

I think the best thing HSV can do is negotiate with Valencia instead of fighting them. If they don't sell, THEN they can go back to vdV and say, "We tried, they just would not pay what you were worth."

Then if vdV still "tanks" the season, he is even more of an asshole, because HSV tried to accomodate him.

Right now, I think vdV is 'rebelling' because HSV won't even talk to Valencia.

But we can go on and on about this.......

Just look at the bastard! This was him last week before Hannover:

„Das Wichtigste ist, dass ich gesund bleibe und keine Rote Karte sehe. Ich will Erfolg mit dem HSV haben. Es ist nicht so wichtig für mich, ob ich zehn oder 15 Tore erziele. Wenn es im Team gut läuft, werde ich meine Vorlagen geben und Treffer machen.“

And suddenly, he just had a change of mind...

In a post-match interview with Dutch television, Rafael van der Vaart said something like: “I know the HSV fans don’t like me much right now but I’ve myself to blame as I tried to force a transfer so I’m not complaining. I still want to join Valencia as Spain has always been a dream of mine as everyone who knows me is aware, but HSV won’t even talk to them. So it looks like I’ll be staying. Which is fine, I’ll wait another year. I will continue to give 100% to whichever club I play for, this is my job after all.”

Apparently his wife and child don't even dare leave the house anymore as they're threatened by fans. Which isn't very nice (putting it mildly).

why did he sign a contract until 2010 with hamburg if it has always been his biggest wish to play in Spain?
VdV is a liar. He lied about his affection to HSV and the City. He lied about his recent injury. His wife is making up stories about feeling threatened.

HSV should keep him for now. Fine him for his behavior towards his employer. sue Valencia and/or Lerby for breaking FIFA rules.
And also they should not let him go for under 20 M.

I wonder if your opinion's changed now?

It took a helluvalot of courage for him to take that penalty as far as I'm concerned. Overall he was your man of the match! So regardless of what you think of his behaviour off the pitch, can you agree that on it, he's a true professional?

Van der Vaart himself admitted it's not serious. He and his agent Sören Lerby tried everything to force a transfer so they made a meal out of the reactions of some angry HSV fans. This "my family doesn't feel safe" bollox was a strategy, just like the Valencia shirt.

The fans will still respect him as long as he performs but the time he was their idol is gone.

The club fined him €50k by the way.

That's fair enough, I'd hate a player too if he behaved that way with my club.

Still the boy has balls, you've got to admit. If he had missed that penalty he'd have been lynched.

I simply see him as an a$$hole who did his job. He gets no credit from me for doing his f#cking job.....

Indeed. Even our sports director Beiersdorfer admitted that only great players have the guts to take the responsibility for a PK in the situation vdV is in. He also praised his performance in the match.
vdV has everything to become a great player like Effenberg imho. He has the skills ( overall even more skills than Effe...), he is very aggressive and he is a little dumb, too :D ...

Hehehe true. Perfect match for his wife in that respect.

Beiersdorfer is kissing his ass to make sure his attitude doesn't change again. They won't feel "safe" until the transfer window closes......

But now that I've calmed down, yeah, vdV proved something with that PK.

LMAO!! Good one!!!

But I think vdV will be smart enough to keep his model wife! LOL!! ;)

According to SportBild Valencia have improved their bid to €22M but Hamburg still don't want to talk to them.

Hopefully VdV is settled to stay, as he suggests. That performance should go a ways to winning back some fans. Thats what he has to do - perform.

Speaking of performing, very impressed with Kompany's play against Leverkusen. He looked every bit as good as he was hyped to be.

If he plays like that.

I think that kid has the potential to be 30 million if he plays like that under pressure! Just wait for the next Euro Championship, then it might even reach that value.

I congratulate HSV for standing firm on this , that is if they do remain firm till the end of the month. Well done.

It will be especially pleasing to see all those smart guys ( mostly journalists ) who were saying he will certainly be gone and that contracts mean nothing and that players always get their way proven wrong.

Hamburg is denying that another offer has been made, and so has Valencia.

Even if it would be true, there is nothing stupid about rejecting it. The Leverkusen game proved that van der Vaart will play at 100% no matter what. No need to take money and throw away this season, when you can get the money next summer anyway.

Jerome Boateng passed his medical today and is now officially a HSV player. The transfer fee is a bit over a million euros.

4-0 final. Nice win. I completely forgot the 2nd leg was today. Interested to see what happens with the Group draw tomorrow.
