he cuts his team sock and wears a tube sock underneath and tapes it
its so that no matter what team sock he is wearing the sock in his boot is the same hickness everytime

Hi ive got this problem
i have really weak joints and it hurts when i play football so i put a support brace on
then my team sock over it then put a white sock on then tape round that white sock all the way up to shinner = ]

There isn't really a right or wrong way of doing it.

Ronaldo and Beckham actually cut the foot part off their team sock and put the white sports sock on first then the leg of their team sock and tape the 2 together so it makes one sock.

One thing i will say though, if you have bad joints just be careful on how much take you use because if you get injured during a game and you have over taped its going to be VERY hard to get it all off without causing further damage.

if you look on getty images, there are pics of beckham with the tube sock on
this is where hes cut the sock in two, and replaced the bottom half with a regular thing white sock....
and to make sure they stay together tape is used, and also helps to keep shinpads up
when i wear my vapors, i just put a thin white sock over my team sock, and then tape around the top of that, the tape is put on just bellow the shinpad

yea when u see players train or warmup they often have just short socks on, it's quite conceivable they don't even take off their bootys and simply slip the cut-up club socks straight over then tape them together (like when u see players warmup until a few mins b4 KO in short socks goto dressing room then all emerge a few mins later).

As I've said before, I did this a few times this past season, when I was wearing white or red boots, and it worked nicely.

But after having to buy tape repeatedly, and go to the effort of taping the socks together well enough, I just couldn't be bothered. Also, it just looks a bit silly if you're wearing black boots...

To be honest. Most football socks dont bother me. If that are a good brand and fit well around my foot i dont really feel the need to chop the feet off to wear a sports sock in its place.

I think its down to preference. And slightly down to fashion now. I think if its done properly with the cutting of the club sock its not too bad but the touch must be horrible if you have a team sock, then a thick white sock, then loads of tape. I like to feel the ball.

Id always wanted to try it but thought it was kinda a waste, then I ripped thru the bogtoe on both my club socks within 2 weeks of getting them so figured I may as well....
Disappointingly tho, the extra length provided by the ankle-sock+modified club sock wasn't enough to hold them up above the knee Henry et al style, which was a shame as it's about the only acceptable methed of dodging the cold....Mebe if I had actual leg muscles....

this is a good idea, i find football socks are too thin and usually wear a sports sock under the football sock when i play

It look like the pros are using an extra small club sock, so that it acts like a shinguard sleeve. And, obviously, the foot would be too small this way - so they cut it off. This way it never slides and there is no extra dressing.

they use normal tubigrip to hold up the pads underneath works perfectly, see ashley cole and lauren they always have a bit showing at the top of there sock.

been reading through this thread and i couldnt beilve thats what ronaldo does i thought at first he just wore a tube sock over his socks guess i was wrong. i now remember years ago i saw in nike town football socks with no foot piece and just a strap at the bottom like what a shin guard has i had no idea what they where for at the time, has anyone seen these or know where i can get them from online this would be ideal for me

The only place ive ever seen them is in my local sports soccer a few months back so you could try there. They only had like a mustard yellow colour though!

I've seen a few pairs floating around on eBAY in the past too so give that a whirl.

ok there called footless football socks googled it found sone on aca sports and some on ebay fww more floating about i'll have a proper look over the weekend tomorrow my manger doesnt know it but his socks are getting cut lol

Just make sure you have decent tape to hold them together. Crap insulating tape wont work you need proper sports tape.
