Aloha to all in here. Am but a newbie in this forum but have been around a few others over the last 4-5 years.

If people are interested, how about a little competition? All you have to do is accurately guess the premiership table at season end, next May 2003. Points are added for every incorrect placing of team, and the person with the lowest score wins. For example, you might predict that Leeds will come 4th and they actually finish 6th, in which case you get two points added to your score. I normally put up a prize for the winner and will pay out as those who know me will testify. Prize for this season is €150 - winner takes all.

So to get you started here's my first prediction. You can put up as many as you like before the 3pm kick-off on August 18th, but your last post is the one that will count. Just cut and past the layout below to make for easier reading, please.

If the moderators oblige, they might then freeze this topic/thread to prevent any changes after the season starts and we can review progress from time to time.

I am being optimistic about my Rovers, but I think they have alot of potential, particularly if their defense holds strong. They have the fire power up front. I think all 3 newly promoted teams will stay up as they all seem to be doing the work to shore up their rosters. Bolton has done enough to stay up, but the 3 teams I think will be relegated either have not done much, or in Fulham's case, have a coach that would cut off his own nose to spite his face. Can't wait to see his ass booted when the team averages 1/2 a goal a game when the regular season starts... :)

Boro lad

I'm not quite sure yet how this forum works, so will suss out if they keep any kind of archive. If not, then I'll keep a copy and give people updates as the season progresses.

If we get a good response to this one, then I'll look at starting the weekly competition once the season starts - more on this anon.

The answer to that is quite simple mate.
Ask..via PM if yeh wish...the resident MOD to make it a "sticky".

That will mean it's always at the top of the page.

Is anyone interested in starting a league to predict results weekly?

would be a bit hard to keep up to date and keep track of progress.

prehaps if there were limited numbers it would be easier?

if so..I will be in for it!

Actually a good idea, but it would require the organiser to be here each and every week for the entire season.

Last season i was in one on soccernet and it went very well as the guy who took care of it had the time...and patience....to look after it all year.
He said at the end though that he would think twice b4 doing it again as it's a l...o...n...g season.

We also tiped on the European comps. He always started of the thread with the games that were up for tiping and anybody that wanted to predicted their outcome.About 2 days later he would post the weeks results and the current table of leaders. It was quite a bit of fun actually....but if you missed even one week of posting your tips you could take a huge dive in the table.

True, but we're doing it with the Bundesliga this season. I guess the easiest way would be just to pick results and not worry about goal differential.

I'd volunteer but I wouldn't know how to set it up and keep track of everyone's predictions. Maybe someone who has experience could handle it.

As the Boro lad mentioned maybe we could limit it to say 20-25 people. First come, first serve. Or even less than that if it's too many.
