Fritz is no bad player as some said here, but he made too many matches this
season, so his is exhausted and his performances doesn´t look convincingly on the pitch currently.
The problem was, that Owomoyela was injured for long parts of the season,
so the only substitution option for Fritz was Pasanen, who had a very bad phase for some parts of the season.
Currently Owomoyela needs to play left defender, because Wome and Schulz were injured the last weeks. Wome and Schulz will return soon (ok, Schulz already returned), so Werder will have a real left-defender on this position again.
That both, Owo and Fritz, need to improve (based on the current performances)
and will do, is clear for me.
I've seen a lot of Bremen games from the start of the season till now. Bremen rely quite heavily upon fullbacks in the attack, they need to be able to whip it in fast and accurate for Klose to head it in. Fritz' crosses just aren't up-to-par, they have neither pace nor precision. With a great Header like Klose in the box, bad crosses=missed chances. Wome's a little better, his crosses do have pace but lack the accuracy.
I don't know I just feel fullback is a weak position for Bremen this year.

Hi Bremen fans,
Are there any interest for Pizarro or Makaay from Bremen that you know of? Pizarro is a free agent and he made his name at Bremen and Makaay is virtual out of the door at Bayern, so I'm sure you can get him for very little money.
As a Bayern fan, I can honestly tell you that both players are still quite good, they suffered from terrible support at Bayern. In a quality team like Bremen with Diego pulling the strings, I can see either one being excellent replacement for Klose who before joining Bremen was a notch below Makaay and Pizarro, and look at where he is now.
It's an interesting suggestion that no one has brought up, just throwing it out there.

Dude, Pizarro seems to be determined to make his next stop Italy, Spain or England.
I think Makaay would be interesting for Bremen. I think the guy can still score in this league. I think he's being affected by all the pressure and political crap at Bayern.
But let's see what the Bremen fans think! :D

Here's what I wrote on our e-mail list about it.
Keith's Comments: This is what is making things hard for Bayern now. The way they have always replenished themselves has been by openly and in quite a few cases, ILLEGALLY raiding their fellow Bundesliga clubs.
These days, the other clubs are doing better and better and they are able to tell Bayern to go f#ck themselves.
Bayern can't compete for the best players in Europe and the world, so eventually maybe even they will have to go back to growing their own talents.
Which they have in the cases of Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Lell and Ottl. But those kids can't get them where they want to either.......
Even though this way they won't get any money. He will be with Bayern in 2008 then.

he will be older, and bayern will miss out on CL money for 2 years... that's good satisfaction for me.
i don't know about having Rheuma Kai in bremen though... haha. But i'm sure KATS will find a good younger player for a good price.

im becoming more and more perturbed with Klose every day...bad performances and talk of moving to Bayern. Then he MEETS with Bayern officials and denies that it was anything important, but then we find out that he may have made a 15 million euro deal behind everyones back??? i mean WTF???
If he goes to Juventus im fine, but i will be PISSED if he ends up going to Bayern

what is this talk about klose and bayern? i thought bremen said they'd never sell klose to another german team.. i would rather see him off to juventus or barcelona next season.

Klaus Allofs surely won't sell klose to bayern just for money. It's just that the media reports that Klose made a illegal deal for a free transfer for 2008/9
I hope we sell him this summer outside germany. I don't know why he has to be so sneaky to an organisation that treats him so well.
