Today's kicker says it is Citibank, but reports that they will pay 6.4M per season.

I think you mean this kicker article (http://www.kicker.de/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/365764/).
It gives a good overview of the last days
by summing up several Kreiszeitung articles very good (IMO):
- Citibank new shirt sponsor
- Leon Andeassen return from Mainz
- Andreas Reinke won´t get a new contract, but Werder offers him a coaching staff job
- Werder interested in Carlos Alberto from Fluminese
- Schaafs analysis of the season
and some rumours

Only thing i don´t like is the bad citation of Thomas Schaaf by the kicker,
they based it on an interview made by the Kreiszeitung, but took the sentence
out of context (sure, you see this very often, but things like this nerve me ;) ).
So, who wants to read the whole interview can look here (http://syke.mzv.net/news/stories/werder/?id=86549). :)

That Rosenberg looks class. He looks like Klose from last year.

Hey, I know this topic is constantly brought up, but what do you think Bremen should do with Klose? Honestly, he wasn't that good down the stretch or in UEFA Cup/Champions League play. Don't you think Bremen should just sell him and take whatever cash someone wants to pay? Bremen can always buy a new striker, not to mention Rosenberg looks like he can be a capable substitute for Klose.

I don´t mind of Miro, If he wants to stay i am happy, if he leave i am also happy,
if Werder finds a good replacement.

Current strikers are Klose, Rosenberg, Almeida, Hunt and Klasnic,
if he returns. Furthermore there are some talents in the reserve,
so i don´t worry.

They will probably sell him.Bayern are suddenly throwing around money to impress, and the way i know Allofs, he'll sell and make some good profit off a player with just one more year on his contract, and just look around to invest in somebody else, there are just so many strikers out there, and Werder have always somehow found somebody new in the past few years.

most papers now say it is 25-30 mio for 3 years! Not bad!

I believe we should either sell him or extend the contract. We can't let him go without a transfer fee in 2008.

Any idea of his market value this summer?

Also what's the deal with Zidan? I thought he was loaned to Mainz. Did he transfer?

After Portuguese newspaper reported about a new contract
for Hugo Almeida already last week,
Werder confirmed the extension until 2011 today.

If a player doesn´t want to play for you,
don´t thraws him. He doesn´t deserve to wear our shirt then,
no player is bigger than the club.

Good point, man. I agree. Bremen's ability to put the club first is what allows us to compete on a limited budget.

Good news! for a while the team made it seem like they didn't want to spend the money on him.

Just got reports that Werder Bremen is chasing Mark Viduka.

With Klasnic out, and Klose having Martial problems, Werder is keen to fix their problems up front at goal.

Seems Werder is willing to spend to get the uncontracted Australian Star Striker to Wesser Stadium for next season. Especially considering they will be involved in champions league action next season.

just another rumour. here are some more names that have been mentioned in the media around the world:

Claudio Pizarro, El Hadji Diouf, Carlos Alberto, Emra Tahirovic, Luis Suarez, Nicolae Dica, Jair Baylon, Ümit Karan and Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

So at the moment Viduka is nothing more than just another name out there and there is no 33 year old striker in the world worth being "chased" by Werder. It would be more like Viduka chasing Werder and not vice versa.

Of course. Everyone likes to think that the big clubs want "their guy"..... :)
