3 points will ensure a Champions League spot. 9 would be nice to put pressure on Schalke and Stuttgart to win their remaining games.

In this situation we can count points, but the team can´t.
They must concentrate on the next and only the next match,
which will be very tough. The self-confidence is a a low point.

we need to just accept that it just wasnt to be. The players who "showed up" , showed up to play. And i am very proud of them. Hunt showed great energy this game, as did Almeida. And that consoles me. WE need to forget this and just concentrate on our next few games. Win them and keep the pressure on Schalke and Stuttgart. As i recall, they have a few difficult games, and ours tend to be a little easier...

As well you should be. Those guys gave it their all, but they couldn't overcome Klose's stupid move.

whats going on between klose and frings?

im disappointed with today's game.. but not so upset because i didnt really expect them to make it through. but i didnt expect them to lose at home, i thought they would have one 3-1 or something...

i'm very upset with klose.

I know you had to watch it at probably 3 am but that isn't an excuse for posting that kind of crap.
Werder played well tonight and making Klose responsible for that result is just plain wrong.

the first yellow was a joke and of course the second one was a dive but if you gave a yellow for every dive like that than a guy like Shevchenko would never ever get to play 90 minutes. If you're a forward and you feel a defenders arm/hand/whatever on your chest, you go down. That's just the way it works. most of the forwards do it and it's usually not a yellow card especially not in the 20th minute.

I'm not saying Werder deserved to be in the final but it would have been a different game with a decent referee.

It's kind of funny that we have endless discussion over certain referee decisions after every Bundesliga weekend and its mostly about pretty close offside calls.

But the referees in the UEFA cup are just so much worse that all this kind of arguing becomes really silly imo.

Tonight the referee wasn't biased. He wasn't pro Barcelone or pro Werder he was just bad. He totally ignored the rules even when they were absolutely obvious.
(for example Espanyols keeper taking the goal kick from the "wrong" side of the box just to save time which must have been obvious to at least one of the three officials)

the first yellow was a joke

That was a knock in the face with his elbow.
If that would be Van Bommel doing that to somebody you know the press would be full of "Van Bommel strikes again!" headlines, with Bild spearheading the campaign.

Just because it was in the 2nd minute doesnt make the attack any less stupid.

By the way, i think Espanyol got two yellow cards for diving in Lisbon, against Benfica.I definitely remeber one of those, because it was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Firstly when diego tried a bicycle kick and kicked the espanyol player in the hand.. he was holding his face on the ground... Espanyol was overreacting alot too... too bad Klose's dive was mistimed. But i still think the referee for a UEFA cup semi final was poor. We should have gotten Graeme Poll.. not sevilla.

Anyway if we lose in Berlin, we will be happy with 3rd

But what does Reinke's age have to do with the fact that he sucks??

haha he wasn't this terrible 2 years ago.

That rule changed a few years ago, goal kicks can be taken from anywhere inside the 5 meter box.

I thought klose’s first yellow was undeserved.

His hands were in a natural position , he wasn’t elbowing the guy. He just raised his hands like everyone does when you’re jumping. You can’t jump with your hands glued to your body.

i just saw the replay of klose's 'dive'... but is it really a dive though? usually divers would roll around the ground clinching on their leg or covering their face or something.. but klose just got up straight away after he fell down.

Yes, Kloses first yellow was a joke and even though goal kicks can be taken from either side the goalie was playing against the clock constantly which should have been a yellow card as well.

haha he (Reinke) wasn't this terrible 2 years ago.

He had a bad match. It f#cking happens if you're Andreas Reinke, Oliver Kahn or Rene Adler.

It just wasn't Werder's season in Europe. Get over it and go win the Bundesliga! You guys will get another chance! ;)

The referee was "bad" from YOUR point of view. I'm not saying he was "excellent" as some whiner accused last night, but from what I saw, he was well within his rights on both bookings of Miro Klose.

You can't sit here and complain that if he calls that others have to call the same thing.

That's not how it works and you know it. Referees make these calls within the laws of the game and using THEIR DISCRETION.

Could he have warned Klose on the elbow or the dive? Of course he could have. But he was well within his rights to book Klose for both and he did.

Talking about others who might not get booked by other referees for the same thing doesn't change that fact.

I know it's hard when your team takes a loss when you are so close to a major trophy. I know. But this referee, while not "excellent" or "great", was well within the rules and his rights on each call against Miro Klose.

And face it. While we all held out hope for Werder, they truly lost this tie in Barcelona.

No referee decided that match......

Do you believe Werder will buy Almeida from Porto?

I think they would be stupid not to.......

Maybe Werder should ask Porto if they accept one year of Miroslav Klose as payment. ;)

I really hope so. I remember seeing somewhere that Porto wants Eur 2.4M to make the deal permanent. If he's really that cheap, then Werder would be stupid not to pick him up, with the consistency he's shown in the last few months.

Maybe Werder should ask Porto if they accept one year of Miroslav Klose as payment. ;)

Repped. :D

You are right, the ref had the possibility to give Miroslav Klose on each foul a yellow. He must not do it but he can. But if he is sooooooooooooo ultra hyper consequent on Miroslav Klose he should be sooooooooooooo ultra hyper consequent on every other player on the field too. That would mean every non dramtic dive in the near of 16m-box -> yellow. every rough duel of two players -> yellow. BUT he didn't. And so Klose got treated totally unfair in comparison to many other players on the field. And that isn't ok! And in every case not in the first twenty minutes.

It was a dive and a pretty embarassing one as well. I think players should get red cards for dives like that.

I did not see the game, but personally, the ref talk takes away from the fact that Bremen were 3 goals down before the game started and had an almost impossible task of reversing that.

To say the ref "ruined" their chances is absurd.
