Unfortunately, for us fans here in the US, we will have to wait two more months before ESPN starts showing us anything from the CL. Two more long months ...

Because there will be nothing worth watching for 2 months.
The big teams start qualifying from mid august.

In general I think people aren't interested in this because these teams will be out before the actual beginning of the tournament.

None of this is being shown in Europe, so Americans aren't missing anything.
Countries are only showing there own teams games, E.G Man utd, Newcastle and Celtic will be shown on UK TV, but not on the Champions League channel ITV. The Man U game might even only be on MUTV.
Eurosport will probably show the last round games which will involve the good teams, but the other rounds will get about 10 mins.

How about the inter-toto?

The inter-toto cup is a farce how ca n a team draw 4-4 and then go out of a competition?
i am talking about the game between Newcastle united and toyes last year which ended 4-4 and was probebly pone of the greatest games i have ever been to. it was great except for stupid away goal rule and made the 8 matches we played from july to mid august a waste of time.
inter toto cup is a micky mouse cup and should only be enterd by those that dont give a ***************

My original post wasn't a serious question.
But why do you complain now.Plenty of the toon army were singin the praizes of the Inter-toto all tru the summer last year.
As for the away goal rule it's been around since the inception of European two leg ties.
And it was Troyes if i remember right.

Champions League qualifying is not owned by ESPN, thus many other networks can show the games.
These are networks showing CL qualifying in the past:
- RTPi for Portugese teams,
- RAI for Italian teams
- FSW for Scottish teams
- Turkish paid channels DFHs for Turkish teams
- some on PPV

You guys make it sound like these matches are worthless and none of the teams has a hope of advancing...
But Maribor made it a few years back, Red Star Belgrade made it through the qualifiers, Dynamo Zagreb made it.
And the Scottish teams have to go through there all the time.
As for the away goals rule, it applies in the Champions' League, so that must be worthless as well, right?

Wasn't it Marseilles (sp?) that went on to win the UEFA cup in the late 90's after coming through the Inter-Toto?
