i have played soccer for 4 years then stopped for about 4 years and now i am getting back into it but when i dive for the ball my hip hurts soo much. Is there something i can put around my waist so it doesn't hurt as much or what?

Let the ball break your fall first not your body.

If you use proper diving technique it really shouldn't hurt. I have seen several free diving technique drills at goalkeepersETC dot com. Hope that helps!

Make sure you have good technique, use the ball to cushion your ball. If you're coming down properly your shoulder (actually kind of the upper outside of your back) should take some of the force as well. For more info, check out my site JB Goalkeeping (http://www.jbgoalkeeping.com).
You can always get padded goalkeeper shorts or undershorts. Lots of manufacturers make them.

everyone says let that ball break your dive, which means when your body returns to the grounds after grabbing the ball in the air point your hands to the ground.
